so i completely rebuilt this engine. crank, cases, both cylinders, pistons(spi mind you),

looks like the mag side went down.... i think its was running lean, the top of the pistons feels melted like bubbled.... FML!!!!!

are these cases still reusable? if not im sending her to the junkers.... what can i do so this doesn't happen again if i decide to redo that one cylinder again. i can't afford to sink anymore money into this old girl....

Sorry to hear that this was the problem. From the info I have gather on these forums the SPI pistons are a copy of the bad design of the 05 pistons. Just a couple questions. Did you mix oil with your fuel in the first tank on the new motor? Are your intake boots new or at least crack free?

yes i pre mixed, and yes i checked the boots out. yeah... im debating parting or putting another 1000 into it to get try once again... im 3500 into the motor right now..

can't see much from that photo. What do the sides of the piston and cylinder walls look like? Did you pull the head already? I think I would want to try and determine what caused piston to fail before fixing it and having it happen again.

yeah pulled the head... cylinder and pistons is MANGLED... i just hope to go the crank is okay... its brand new... but that is a pic of just the case... i hope it can be re used. its got a chunk missing out of it.

Josh, the pic of the case doesn't show enough to make a call....... By the pic the case is fine BUT the pic doesn't show enough.

Pull the cylinder and leave the piston on the rod and take a few pics from different angles and then take a few pics of the cylinder.

Whats all been done to the motor ???

lol new everything... but as far as after market.. slp heads. pipe, torque stops.

there is a small 1cm by 1 cm chunk missing where the intake piece is... the only thing i can thing of is flow turbulence.
