Just some help for guys who may not know:
Your local dealerships have crates this time of year, I know for Doo it is easy to re-install a sled in their crates, they screw together. (As long as the dealer doesn't cut them apart to open them) If your dealer is good to you (and wants you to pay for your new sled, lol) they may work with you. I just recrated a Freeride in my trailer, and my dealer let me use their forklift to unload it from my rig and load it into a shipping trailer on their lot. Be sure to get the hardware also, or the sled will not fit. (Front shock replacement bars, suspension hooks to compress the rear suispension.) It is also nice to get the foam and fabric protective covering to keep things happy. On Doos the front shocks, windshield, glove box door, skis, and rear bumper have to come off to fit back in the crate. Rear flap also should come off, but you can jam it in there. It is easier to fit everything if you get a crate that is one size larger than your sled. (163 crate for a 154, 154 crate for a 146, etc.) Doos have a VERY tight fit, the suspension has to be compressed with the hooks or it will touch the roof of the crate.
Polaris crates are steel and dealers have to return them to Polaris or they get charged, so you won't get one of those for Poos. I am sure you could get a Polaris to fit in a Doo crate though.
Mike shipped a Freeride for me a couple of years ago, it was easy to do, I crated it, dropped it at the terminal, new owner got it with no issues.
