Island Park Idaho • Wild West WinterFest -
Second weekent in January. Wild West WinterFest, hosted by the Island Park Area Chamber of Commerce. Events include the Opening Ceremony with the Torchlight Snowmobile Parade and a super fireworks show at Hungry Bear Market & Deli on Hwy. 20, snowmobile events at the Hungry Bear, Bratwurst/Kraut feed and Snow Market at Mountain Mayhem on Saturday. Casino Night Saturday at Island Park Lodge. A nice champagne brunch and awards ceremony at TroutHunter on Sunday. Check back at this Web site for a more complete schedule. The next system arrives Thursday afternoon and continues into Friday morning. Expect around 1 inch of snow for the Eastern Magic Valley, and 1 to 3 inches of snow for the Lower and Upper Snake plain. Slightly higher amounts will be possible for the Eastern benches along the I-86 and I-15 corridors. Highest snow amounts will be for the Big Holes and Wasatch mountains where 4 to 8 inches of snow is likely. Expect 3 to 6 inches for the Caribou Range including Wayan. Other areas across the Southeast and Eastern Highlands should get around 2 to 4 inches of snow. The Albion mountains will likely see 3 to 6 inches with localized higher amounts. Winds of 20 to 25 mph are possible late Thursday into Friday morning, especially for ridgetops across our southwest areas in the Southern Hills/Albion mountains.

How are you liking the new sled?
Honestly, I absolutely LOVE THIS THING.
Far more fun than any of my previous boosted Yamahas.
I have made it to 30% on the breakin, so I know there is significantly MORE power that will become available.
But it is absolutely the MOST FUN sled I have ever owned.
Soo happy I bought it.
How are the conditions in the Island park area right now!?
Its certainly been a STRANGE JANUARY to say the least.
To have the snowpack PEAK in December is ODD.
We are still waiting for a big WINTER STORM to blow through, but it keeps not appearing.
And the 10 day forecast still shows nothing coming our way of any consequence.
The 6 inches we got last week were super welcome, and much needed, but 6" isn't a big dump by any stretch of the imagination.

Nice temps.
AK is getting some of the goods possibly in the coming weeks but not so great for the lower 48.
Now with the long wait we have high risk avalanche conditions too....kinda scary how un wintery it is here in the valley. Keep thinking it's got to turn around but what if it doesn't? Sucky
