Island Park - Mid March?

We are a small group of flatlander Iowa Boyz that, for the last 10 - 12 years, have visited the Island Park area in late January - mid February. We have always been told that we are out there "too early in the season" for big snow. To us, it has always been great compared to what we have to ride 20 hours away back home! This year we all have too many conflicts to make it out there til possibly mid March. What are the conditions normally like in mid March out there in the average year... whatever that is like? I realize our weather has been really off the last few years and don't expect any guarantees, just curious if a mid March trip is a possibility? For us, it comes down to leaving this weekend to come out, or waiting until March which might currently look like a better possibility. Any opinions / input would be greatly appreciated as we all have the itch to ride, but might be forced to wait til later in the season. Thanks!!

mid-march is still winter time....you will have snow to ride, probably more than is there now.

We go every year

We are out there every year in March - remember that the Expo is going on in March too - that weekend the place is crawling with snowmobilers - although in I.P. it is somewhat better than in West!
There has only been a couple of years that the snow hasn't been very good, but it is still VERY rideable and we have always enjoyed ourselves! The March snows can still cover the tracks and make riding REALLY good!
We don't ride there without beacons period - but especially in the spring! FYI!
