Is trimming unused inner track nubs a good idea?

I was looking inside my track at my extroverts the other day and noticed that there is a row of track nubs inside of each extroverts that are not used for driving the track when only two drivers (extroverts) are used.

I thought about cutting them off with a razor knife to save a bit more rotatiing mass (above and beyond porting) from the track. I'm guessing it could save another 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. from my 162" Camo Extreme.

Has anyone else done this or can someone tell me why it wouldn't be a good idea?

I haven`t heard of anyone doing this. But you have a good idea going. I think i`m going to try this on my sleds. I don`t think it could hurt anything.

Did it to 3 of our tracks, mine, my brother's, and my dad's. Don't miss em and saved weight. Also took off the nubs that aren't backing a clip. And took off every clip that didn't have a backing up against a nub from stock. Where's my pictures?

Huh...........maybe I will give it try. I just thought it was one more way of shaving a little bit of weight. Remember, weight comes off in ounces most of the time but, those ounces quickly add up to pounds.

Don't the M1000's have to take the nubs off in order to clear something on the driveshaft for thier Direct Drive?
