Is this cylinder block salvageable?

So here is the monoblock off my 09 800 Nightmare I mean RMK.

My buddy who is a car mechanic says its toast, but I wanted to get a second opinion. The hairline crack extends through the sleeve nearly all the way through the metal. It's on both sides of the cylinder right next to the exhaust valves.

LMK what you guys think....and where to get a new one possibly

Cheers

i'm guess it will need to be welded and re-nicked. millennium or u.s. crome. not sure if they do welding also.

I'd buy the monoblock from Dave rather than try to replate it/weld/repair.

BTW, that's a great picture. It's hard to get that quality of a pic in a jug.

So I looked at US Chrome, seems like they could handle it, however, it looks like it may cost me around $200 per cylinder to get to where I need to be.

Seems like a brand new cylinder block for $450 might be an easier and cheaper way to go.

Diamond, Im a photographer, glad it kinda shows!!

Anger, what makes you think that about the re-sleeving process and this motor?

I would get another block...yes it can be fixed b...u...t if it were my sled i'd either get a 2010 block or part out the motor and put a nice carbed 800 in it

Do you belong to a snowmobile club? If so ask them if they will give you a discount. Our club is registered with them and I had a re-nic done. I think belonging to a club saved me like $45 or something. Like I need another reason to belong to a club, but there are several benefits!

Angermangement890 What type of problems are they having with the sleeves? the guy that is rebuilding my engine sent out the cylinders to CA to have the sleeves custom made

The issue with the sleeves currently offered for this engines is they do not incorporate the head bolt holes. You will have minimal/no support for the head bolt holes once the sleeve is installed due to the small distance from the O-Ring groove to the bolts. Pictured below is a 2010 CFI cylinder that shows what I am referring to.
