Just wondering what the snow conditions are in the Snowies?? We just finished planting today and I was thinkin it would be nice to take a trip if anyone still has rideable snow.

Your help is appreciated,
Boone

From what I hear there is still good snow, but any snow is good snow. Wish I had time to go but we have too much spraying to do.

North French creek is showing 120" of snow pack. We road on the 5th and it was great. We were even able to park at Green Rock and ride up from there. Many years that can't even be done the middle of April. The DOT guys had only cleared the Hwy up to the "S" curve as of Wednesday. The weather forcast lookes very good for the next week also. We will deffinately be riding over Fathers Day weekend. Hurry up and get the spraying done.

OCDsledder, was that you on the Doo or Yami? I stopped and talked with a couple guys on my way back to the truck with my tote in tow.

Supposed to snow next few days up there...can't wait to go back.

Snowy Range

I want to head up in the morning if I can find someone to go. I'll get cond. report and maybe a few pics .

Thanks for the input guys. Keep us posted!! I still have a little spraying to left also. Close to 10,000 acres of pre-plant so far! I'd like to head out in the next week or so if the weather stays good out there.

Where do you park later in the season when they start opening up the road and you can't ride from Green Rock anymore?

Just got back from the Snowies today. Rode out of Green Rock the 7th and 8th. Only 3 trucks there the 7th, maybe 10 on the 8th. Half dozen rigs parked on the road at SML on the 7th and maybe a dozen on the 8th. We easily rode out of Green Rock. Conditions were excellent for May riding. A foot of fresh fell on the 6th. Did the 'ol probe test out in the open where the Quealy Safety Hut would be. 8 feet of probe with my arm stuck 2 feet into the snow and still could not hit bottom. Plenty of base, a foot of fresh on top, and only seen a few sleds on the hill all weekend...straight up great spring riding!

Battle Pass (Between Savery & Encampment)

Went in Sat. (5/8) from the west (Savery) side; parked at the gate which was a little sketchy since they have started to clear the road in about 5 or 6 miles or so. Had to get a little creative to stay in the snow but worth the work. Great snow from mile marker 36 on to the east towards the summit, can't say well enough about the snow. It's still in the trees and the open and what's on the ground was.... you know what I'm talking about. Summer needs to hold off only another 4 or 5 months and then we would all have a Merry Christmas. Will be riding Black Mtn. south of this in Colorado (20 - 30 miles) later this week (Fri. or Sat) for any one interested. Call 970-846-8516

Pics from Saturday. Snow is great and more in the forecast for tonight!

We are heading out to denver on June 4th to pick up a couple sleds we bought and we're wanting to give the sleds a quick test run up in the snowys while we are out there. Do you guys think there will be any snow left to go for a test run on June 5-6?

Anyone interested in heading out this weekend?? I was planning on taking off tomorrow nite but my group bailed on me. I would still like to head out for one last trip. So if anyone around northwest iowa or between here and there wants to go... let me know.

We will try a post some pics while we are out there this weekend. Nothing better then leaving 90 degree weather and heading out to go ride at the end of May.

I wouldn't hesitate about going, there is so much snow out there it is unreal. Just got back early this morning, rode friday, sat. and sunday morning. I drove from minnesota and it was well worth it. lots of play areas, and not many people up there. We parked at snowy mtn lodge along the rode and you can still ride from there.

Hwy 130 was plowed almost to Lake Marie on Sat. Should be opened all the way by this weekend. Plenty of snow up there still...
