Is there a recall list out there for 09 D8

P
Took my sled to the dealer a month ago for a service and few other things. My buddy jacked my bill when he was there and said there was something about a 60 or 90 dollar fuel line. Is this some kind of update recall or a service standard. In the past they never changed out fuel lines on are sleds and i want to know if they are trying to sneak this past me.

Thanks Sean

Ck your invoice I bet it's a fuel filter. I don't know of any fuel line recall. The cylinder head and piston update didn't include any fuel lines

When should the fuel filter be changed? New to me D8 with 1500 miles being serviced right now. Should I worry about the filter or wait till next year?

Due to ethanol in the fuel they are recommending that you change the fuel filter each season for sure. I'm not positive, but I'm thinking it was every 1000 miles too.

Heres the problem,if that filter starts to restrict fuel flow you create a lean condition which in turn creates heat in the combustion chamber = detonanation=ck engine light.yes they are pricey [filter] but imo worth it

And on that subject, anyone have a slick way of removing that filter? I'm having a bugger of a time removing that slip fit connector.

The auto stores have quick disconnect fittings just like the ones on part of the fuel line, so take off the filter and line from the tank and cut off the swedge and have a quick disconnect pressed on. Is there any reason why that's not a good idea ? and the only other question is what micron is the filter? $80 dollars a filter two three times a year is ludicris for those that put on good mileage.

Local auto stores like Smucks (now Kragens) or Pep Boys have a blue 3/8" plastic fuel line disconnect tool, cost about $2.00 and makes changing the fuel filter a breeze. On line Polaris dealers have fuel filters for less than $60.

I would think 2 or 3 engine overhauls a season would be Ludacris. It's not Polaris' fault that the fuel quality nowadays is garbage.

Be thankful it's not a Jeep and the filter is part of the fuel pump. Replace your fuel pump at the recommended intervals. Rather have that?

If you don't want to pay $80 2 or 3 times a year, then go back to old school technology IE Edge chassis. Carbs...and bucking suspension...No thanks.

Your right I don't want to pay $80 dollars 2 or 3 times a year (hopefully it's gonna be that kind of year) I'am going to make a quick disconnect so I can change it when required and put that money into fuel and oil. Regular unleaded gas is $3.37 today in town. I had to replace the pump in the chevy, $500 bucks oem and my labor.

FUEL LINE RECALL

On the bold,

NOT saying this is the poster's issue, but there IS/WAS a fuel line recall for the CFI 2007' and 2008's?? whereby the fuel lines crossed over one another and eventually rubbed through.

POLARIS sent me a letter on this and they included specific serial # ranges that were affected.

Guess I will be getting a fuel filter. Ethanol is the biggest joke going! Put something in the fuel that ruins the vehicles it goes in... Great Idea!:face-icon-small-fro

gotta pipe in here, ethanol is not a joke it is a very valuable tool in our changing world; that said ; it is not for every type of vehicle, it is not for boats and sleds or anything that isn't used alot, don't just spout off the stuff you here from the anti crouds cuz your playing into their hands, pick up some reliable info and educate yourself. sermon over

Mark (rmk727) is very correct on ethanol, it took some of the fuel price fixing away from OPEC, and it has given thousands of jobs to Americans. Ethanol is a great fuel when used in the right application. The best way to avoid problems is to keep it fresh. If you don't use an entire tank in 2 weeks time, you should be using premium just because of the shelf life. $ .02

Where did you get your info? Only two weeks shelf life? Is that from day of refining, or day of pumping?

What us the reason for adding 10 percent eathonal to fuel?

Ok so I take off the fuel filter with the tapered spanner tools, tank size is 5/16 and fuel filter line is 3/8 :face-icon-small-dis unbelieveable and to make it interesting the tab on one of the four spanners that hold the filter on is on the inside of the tool (which is not possible but it was) and made it a sun of a B to get apart, but it did come apart with one bent tab mangled and that little itty bitty filter is partially plugged with 1500 miles. What does that say for the brand new gas station that I only fill at? Now I just need to find out what micron filter it is, does anyone know?

Briggs and Stratton engines regularly perform fue tests, and 89 oct 10% ethanol begins to break down in as little as 3 weeks.

Ethanol is added to fuel as an oxygenate, most if not all states require oxygenated gasoline now to meet EPA requirements.
