Is there a new thread mandate for mods??

Chris: I've been a member of this little "on-line town" 3 or 4 forum hosts ago (like 1999 or 2000 I'm guessing....there was 50 or 60 members when I first joined

Makes me think back to the days of Doug and Ox being the post whores... Users been on here like Punmkinpatch etc... Everyone having their place in the spotlight, IndyDan, Big John, Tetonice (man ! the threads extending off them that kept us all glued) When the second forum came out (after this was a trail condition forum and turned pretty much into snowest), there were 20 users, then 30... LOL. Most of the above users were after the first or second version of this site
This place has come a long way

Careful mtnpull, you just might get him mad enough to post your personal info all over this site, at least that seems to be his M.O.

I wonder if the paying snowest customers should ban together and have a chat with Harris Publishing about a certain Dictator

I thought about the consequences of the post before I submitted it. I would hope to be banned before someone would spread personal info out. Seems a little low to me and I would think that spreading personal info could have some legal consequences. But then again I am not a lawyer.

I just am getting tired of the crap and I think enough is enough. Why don't we ban together and make this site better. If christoper would stop and listen to some of the feedback then maybe some of the changes would be for the better. But then he would have to come "down" (his words not mine) here to fouled plug and get on our level for that.

Sad state of affairs around here. I don't really care about the bells and whistles added to the site, but the moderator situation is pretty goofy. Choose your moderators a little more wisely, some personalities do not belong in that job! They shouldn't be accorded any special privaledges either. That "Official CO Picture" thread needs to float, just like the rest of our personal threads.

Very valid points being made. Since reading some of Christophers posts it has me asking, Who the heck does this guy think he is? New guy on the forums, makes guys that are flatlanders mods on a mtn forum. Guys that are some of our biggest pot stirers on Snowest into mods. Atleast lurk for a bit and see what it is all about before you go and mess it up. Most of your posts at members talk down to them, insult them, and really need to change. Like his post to hatchers the other day, no business saying stuff like that. This forum is great because of the hatchers, ollies, ot's, and some of the liby guys that give different views. The differing personalities are what make this site great not some stupid ability to thank, or some stupid level meter bars bs under your name. Use the kiss method on this and Chris maybe stop acting like a power hungry know it all and get in touch with what members of this forum actually want before you end up ruining it.

Better Question. Why do YOU personally have a problem with me being a mod?

Better yet........You have a PM!

what personal info is getting put out there?

I would also like to know.

Just when lord chris gets riled up at your self or hatchers he addressed you by your name. unless you gave him that info in a pm or something then thats different. But in Hatchers case chris got riled up and addressed him on the open forum by his last name. Hatchers does not have his profile filed out and does not put his last name out there. but chris finds the need to talk down to him and address him that way. He doesn't know Hatchers any other way then just Hatchers. but he is using his admin powers and posting up Hatchers last name. just like he did to you when he called you out by your name. I know it sounds minuet but it's not. He is trowing out personal info that was not made public by the user.

LAME!!!

Ill respond in the open since you asked it here, I have no problem with you personally. Just find it to be humorous that guys that maybe get out west 2 or 3 times a year are mods on a mtn forum. Honestly how much info can you contribute or determin is valid based upon testing or real world riding in the mtns? Like the guy from Dallas, sure he is a great rider but honestly how much help can he be when it comes to mtn info? Few of the new selections I have huge respect for, mountainhorse for example, that guy contributes more info in the poo section than any other 2 users combined. He should be a mod. Just saying mods should be people that are out in the mtns riding regular so they can contribute up to date info on mtn setups. Having flat land guys being mods on mtn forums is like me being a mod on a lake racing forum, I might get out and do it once or twice a season but at the end of the day its not something I do enough to get alot of experience and credability with.

I agree to a point. Mod should be guys the have the time to spend lurking.

Flatlanders make since to me due to the fact they will be on here dreaming about the mountains while we will be out riding in them.:D So they can police the forums while we ride. Since when do people get their tech info from a Mod? Since when do the Mods have to be the person who rides the most or that contributes the most? Mods need to stay in the backgrounds. mods need to be the least opinionated person on the forum. not someone who is trying to push an agenda.

Nobody ever had a problem with Big D, He doesn't ride, he is the perfect mod. generally only pops his head in when chit hits the fan. the way it should be.

Brad, flatland Rob here.

I'm only in charge of the dakota section. That is the only place I have powers.

You know I can't ride the mtn's or follow you in trees, but am active in the events and activities that happen in my area, so hopefully deemed qualified for my area I was assigned to.

Otherwise, I agree completely with you.

So what would be your minimum requirement for riding time in the mountains to be a mod? because that is what you are basing it on, amount of time spent riding.

Your post proves to me that you have no idea what a mod on snowest is supposed to do. Were not here to tell you how to ride or be the know all of everything snowmobileing. We are here to help the site. I asked to help out in the Ski-Doo REV section because that is the sled I ride and I have more information on then any others. Plus I want to learn more and since I read every post in that section (along with every other Ski-Doo posts) it makes it easy for me to help with that forum. But whether the person lives in the flatlands of the midwest or the mountains of west has absolutely no effect on their ability to know if a for sale thread should be moved, a polaris question is in the Yamaha section or if the picture some one posted is against site rules.

Well Said BossRev.:beer;

This place really has changed. Back in 2004-2006 this site had sooooo much good info and helpful people. Now it seems to have more fighting than info sharing. Not sure if it has to do with all the new members or what. Nobody uses the search function. I have read hundreds of repeat threads. More users mean more headaches and more useless dribble.

Christopher has a tough job trying to keep this all in order. His changes will make some happy and others it will make not so happy. Yes, he is new here, but everybody was at one time.;)

Wow.

Just remember that the majority of moderators usually just moderate their states that they live in. That's the biggest group of mods.

Hey Dave, I have an idea...howz about you post up those old pics of you and Pecos puking through your noses. LOL
