Is the Riot LE worth the extra cash

To me it's worth it. I want the adjust-ability, some days you want riot/wheelie mode others you want the best deep snow performance that you can get.

Really happy that the quick select switch actually works on the Riot. I can't even compress the suspension with it set to hard. My aro LE was not that way.

Thanks for the reply. i have not seen one in person and was unaware that only the LE was adjustable. Really settles it for me as i want the ability to adjust it as wel.

Thanks

Mike

I'm not sure I agree with paying a grand extra to get clickers but its really too soon to know. I just got the base model because I can totally revalve my own shocks. The base model RIOT comes with nice aluminum body rebuildable shocks, not the cheap junk like the RAW. From what I know about adjustable damping, It won't keep the front end down, It can only slow the rocking speed into a wheelie unless it totally hydro locks then the suspension will ride like poo. You need to change the rear spring preload to truly keep the front end down. The rear sprng on the riot is crazy soft so you can just leave the locknut loose and spin the adjuster with your gloved hand to dial in the proper wheelie mode balance.

The entire point to the adjustability to be able to change it for conditions!

Yes I'm not saying I will even revalve the shocks I have but I feel the spring preload is a better way to adjust the wheelie mode. I havent rode a LE so I could be totally wrong but I can't imagine hydrolocking the shock to control wheelies will move much when you actually hit a bump.. It's like clicking on the couplers on an old sled they climb great but harsh harsh harsh. If locking the rear makes a huge improvement in float on deep days I could certainly justify the effort to twist my spring up a few turns and its not that much harder than frozen clickers...I do this easily on my old bike on pow days just keep the threads well lubed. On deep days with hydro locked clickers you probably won't notice the harshness anyway so my guess is either way will work fine but it's a grand difference. I'll know more real soon... Not sure if the LE has adjustable front and or rebound but If you moto in hard snow those options would make it with a grand for sure.

I still prefer to dial in the pre-load based on the "mid" settings and then leave it alone. Then use the quick select switch to modify the ride to the conditions. Sometimes you want a rowdy ride other times you want it pretty much locked out to climb out of a hole. I can flip the switch in seconds without even shutting the bike off, adjusting pre-load isn't quite that easy, and is much more difficult (for me anyways) to keep track of. If you're pre-load is loose enough that you don't need to take the weight off the suspension to adjust then there is a good chance it's moving around while you're riding too. I've seen that happen quite often even with the lock ring tight.

In the past kits have been sprung so soft that pre-load adjustment isn't enough, and you run the risk of coil binding before you get where you want to be. Not an issue I guess if you can re-valve yourself but that's over my head.

To me it's worth it. I hope to recoup most if not all of the $1000 when I sell the kit.

Nice to have options I guess!
