Is my shock bent?

Cant tell from that pic but my springs have popped out of the keeper on the bottom. Happens if your preload is to light (how compressed the spring is) and you hit a big bump. Twist your spring see if it pops back in the keeper.

I don't know if you looked at your picture but its like you're looking through drunk eyes.

Are you talking about how it's closer to one side of the a-arm than the other? If so, it's normal. Or what powderbound said.

Bent spring?

To me it looks like the spring is not sitting correctly on the bottom spring retianer. This could have been cause by too light of pre-load, hitting a large bump, or jump, and it hopped off center.

Lift the front of the sled off the ground, suspending the ski's. Make note of the spring pre-load length. (You didn't mention the model or year of the sled so I can't look up the factory setting). Back off the adjuster to take all tension away from the spring and check to make sure the bottom spring retainer is flat (perpendicular) to the shaft and that the spring is properly positioned on it. Then tighten the pre-load to the correct factory setting, and or the previous as noted and see if that solves your problem.

Hope this helps,

Cheers

Thanks for the replies! I will check out how it is setting in the ring and adjust the pre load. It's a 13 pro rmk 155 btw

Nope shocks not bent, I think there is just that much tolerance in the jigs that the A-arms are made on. All of our Pro's have had varying distances from where the spring sits to the edge of the upper a arm.

If its the 600 the installed preload spring length should be 10 1/4 Inches.
10 1/2 inches if its the 800.

Lets us know if that solved your isue :)

The bottom of the spring wasn't sitting all the way in the ring so it was an easy fix!

if you really want to know if your "shock" is bent.

unbolt from sled

remove spring

push shock down thru its stroke and release

if it returns smoothly with no hangs then your good to go. If it stops, then most likely your rod is bent. This can be fixed by calling deycore.com and getting a new shock shaft and rebuilding it. Or just send them your shock.

I live like .25 mile from them and rebuild and fix my own shocks. Its fun to get into once you figure how to rebuild shocks.

Ski doos are the hardest (HPG)

polaris and cat a simple (ACT and FOX/ryde FX)

Air shocks are a head scratcher for me, so I refuse to buy them. lol

I bent one today. Just slightly. Do you know what it costs to get a new shaft installed by them?

As I remember last spring when I bent a shaft they were back ordered and kind of spendy. I ended up buying a pair of take offs from a guy for about the same it would have cost me to get mine fixed....and I would have had to wait a month for parts. Now I have a spare...

http://www.deycore.com/walker_evans.htm#shafts

there is the link to just buy the shafts from them. $60.00 a piece. Their labor and shipping i don't know, just give Steve Dey a call (651-430-9642). He might not answer cause during busy season his daughter and a hired hand help in the shop. But summer time it is usually just him.

Great guy, he's been in this industry for a LONG time and knows his stuff!

I just bought a pair of new take offs from Carls Cycle. Great price. Check out the clasifieds.
