Is it safe to run a slp pipe without a pc5?

Hello, i have a 2009 dragon rmk. I bought a slp pipe for dirt cheap. It has a small dent in the front from my buddy hitting a tree. Repair shops says since the dent (at its greatest depth) is less than 1/4 the diameter at that part of the pipe, it should be good. Im running the fix kit and the newest '10 Polaris ecu flash.

Should I be skeptical about this pipe on my sled? Worried about a lean/ burndown condition? Thanks

My 08 D8 has SLP single and SLP high flow intake, otherwise basically stock, no PCV / PC5 at this point, ran it all last season that way and it is fine. 2010 update and flash installed. As with any 08-10 800 CFI, just don't stay too long in the midrange without varying the throttle some. Don't have to get too crazy with the throttle, just vary it.

I bought a PC5 so I can tune it better, get some more top end too. Can get you into trouble though if you don't know what you are doing. I will start with the SLP map for my setup (after synching the throttle position sensor) and go from there.

With that pipe, you can repair dents, I believe they spot-weld a rod to it, pull it out, then cut it off. Although 1/4 inch dent might not make any difference.

Slap it on there and ride it! While the pipes / y-pipe is off, look in there with a flashlight and turn the engine over a few rotations and see if you have any piston problems coming on.

Don't forget to follow the instructions (you can download them from the SLP site) and make sure the mount / bracket you have will work, and reroute the wiring. Wax the pipe per instructions too, while you can still get at it (mine is getting rusty but that was the former owner's fault, and my fault for buying it basically sight unseen, but i got a good price on it so decided to just run it, maybe paint it with high temp paint)...

Hey guys,
I have a slp pipe muffler, head, larger high flow intake, reeds. and don't run any fuel controller, if you go to slp's web site or look in there catalog they are pretty good about saying what upgrades need a fuel controller or not.

Plug both ends of the pipe. screw a air comresser quick couple in the thermocouple hole. useing a regulator add 25 psi and a little heat from a torch and you will not be able to tell it was dented. I fixed a croumpled slp pipe this way. ceramic browned a bit but this pipe was bad. about a 5' deep dent.

If you run the pipe make sure you check wash and plugs at 1/4 throttle mid and wot if lean you will need a pc or some otherway to add fuel dont just base it off of somebody ran theres that way otherwise you will be buying a new "fix"
