Is anybody using one of these Turbos?

I know there was talk about them on here last season. I talked to one of the guys from there last year in Cooke, I can't remember his name but he used his turboed 800 to get up to where I had decided to take a route through some trees that didn't work as planned. The sleds in their group all had turbos and seemed to run pretty good. If I had the money I would definitely talk to them.

yeh there are a few guys that have derek fischers turbo kits...most buy the parts and get the clutching, control boxes from derek...

i have talked to derek quite a bit on them and he helped me alot, and taught me alot...

im building my own turbo in the spring/summer 2011 and will get most parts from derek.

i can get you pretty much tell you all the info he told me on the kits or future plans of his kits, parts, ect ect..., or whats needed..i met with him in sept for some dinner/beers and talked it over wuite a bit, and then i got LOTS of help from 2poor, DMJ1, JSKATUM (sp?)

look up the thread turbo 975 for sale and Attitude Control boxes...some good insight on the turbo 900 future "kits" :(

I don't think I will be getting one anytime soon if ever. The horsepower output on that thing is pretty amazing but the 110 octane race gas to use it doesn't really excite me much.

Id have to drive over an hour to find the race gas..

I have a T 9 and it has a lot of parts from derick. He is very helpfull and a nice guy. He is hard to get parts out of in a timely fashion but they work good and he is good about answering questions and helping everyone out.

about the fuel. I run mine on pump at 7 psi. and 10-12 on av gas at 8000 ELEV. both of which are much cheaper alternatives to 110

really...pump huh? do you switch heads, any knocking?

i am just planning on running stright 100LL for 10-12psi...but i would like to knock the boost down for every day riding...like 6-8psi...for 60% of my riding around...

ill be in touch about that topic when it comes though, ;)

but as for turbo fuel...its one of the HOTTEST topics on the forums...50% say race fuel, 50% say AVGAS...but the answer is avgas, :first:

I didn't even think about AV gas till you guys mentioned it. Where are you buying it (local airport)? and what has it been running?

yep local airports will usually hook you up, some wont..but you have LOTS of options there in utah..

the 100LL is around $4-$4.80/gallon..

Yep, Dericks low comp head. DET would come in at about 8 on lower elevations(6-7000) and 9 at higher Elev. (8-9000) i have found motors to be more tough than i originally expected. I had a spark plug rattle out of the head (9psi at 6000 feet on pump = bad idea) and i never had a DET related burn down last year. Good times:face-icon-small-hap about 1200 miles boosted last year

one thing i will mention is this was with a 2871 garrett. Dericks kits run the 3071 that i got for this season, so we will see what the comparison is on the two. the 3071 just has a bigger exhaust frame to it. flows some more air. The turbo i scored on also has a 4" compressor inlet. again well see the Diff

I ran mine( home built) on 100ll (av gas) @ 12 psi all last year . Going to try 80/20 ( 80% av /20% 94 )@ 10 psi and see how that works . The one thing I will say ,the DET sensor will save you a lot . I find if there is an over boost it will kick in and shut down the engine . Had it happen once and just backed off the boost.
