Is a big wheel kit worth it?

8" rear wheel kit

Is anybody currently running one? What all is needed to install?I am thinking about running one 02 800 rmk 144?Thanks for your input. Later

I installed the 8" kit on my 2002 EDGE -X 800 121" track.

Wasn't worth it, no top end improvement, was a real hassle to adjust the track tension as the "offset rear wheel stubs" require a boxed end wrench (have to reach in behind the 8" wheel) that ended up slipping off a few times and inevitably stripped the head off.

I would not do it again, I.M.O.

i agree...not worth the effort. I did a back to back test on my apex with stock wheels, then 9" wheels... ported 174-16 2.5 track..ZERO difference other that the look...:drum:

Your not going to notice a difference like 5mph or 10hp that comes from nowhere. Its the fact that knowing your sled is working a little less with the reduced resistance. Means less wear and tear, cooler running temps.

One of the things I have noticed that bigger wheels helps a bit on is backing the sled. Does not trench the sled as easy as it does with stock wheels.
But i guess its mostly for looks.
