IRL to Versus Network in 2009

Another big blow to open wheel racing in 2009.

Apparantly ABC will do a small handfull of races but all others to be on Versus.

I would support the resurrection of CART/CHAMP turbo cars on road courses on ESPN in a heartbeat.

At this point the only network TV I watch anymore is college football.

Versus and Speed Channel are the worst things that ever happend to the NHL, open wheel racing and Tour De France coverage.

Versus is a cable channel that was initially called the Outdoor Life Network.

When ESPN told the NHL to get lost they are the cable channel that picked up the NHL contract last season and will have it again this coming season.

Versus and Speed Channel are cable channels that cable providers typically make avialable only on thier premium digital packages. If you have basic cable you're toast in most cases for these two channels. As you can tell we only have basic cable.

Versus network has UFC on it, so that's not bad, Speed has Unique Whips and Wrecked which aren't bad. Why was Vs so bad for the tour? They show everystage, every day most of the time 3 or 4 times that same day, altho Bob Rolle is sometimes hard to deal with but I love how he pisses the Frenchies off with his pronunciation of the event.

From what I've read, fan base is shrinking for the IRL.
Unification isn't saving it.
Danica isn't saving it.
Milka isn't saving it.

I really don't think it matters what channel it's on, fewer & fewer people are viewing.
