Buddy has a 2010 600 rmk. All stock except for jaws can. He wants to get a little bit more out of it. Wondering what you guys have for experience such as pipe, intake, clutching etc.. Any suggestions??

Pipe and intake will have minimal gains, but easy in, easy out helps the motor run smooth. Clutching is always good becasue that is how the power gets from point A (motor) to point B (track), but there is never one perfect set-up for all conditions. Set-up all depends on where and how you ride, check with others that ride in the same places as you.

I've got a 2010 600 as well. I would gear it down as far as you can afford, then get the clutching right. After that add gas and oil. Sure you can spend more, but what is his budget and where does he primarily ride it?

I couldnt tell you his budget. Probably not overly extensive becuase it is only a 600. Ride at home which is around 1000' and then go to West and Bighorns so anywhere from 6000'-10000'.

best performance in the steep and deep...track and quality rear skid, followed by clutching....engine last.....

No truer words. Its unfortunate that the first default mechanism most resort to when thinking enhanced power is to increase noise. Evidently there is no glory in smooth turning bearings and shafts. 550iq

Can can be done without much noise. SLP, Colorado noise compliant.

Track depends on on where you ride. 5.1 works great in colorado.

Yes. Knowing what your budget is would be helpful but this would be my must have list for 2010 600. My wife owns a 660. Hands down funnest sled I've ever ridden.

Hopefully this sled is a 155. If it isn't and is a 144, then stop right now and make it a 155.

  • Carl's Cycle clutch kit. Consists of a new custom cut helix, a couple delrin washers, and a set of bellybuster weights for your altitude
  • The SLP pipe and can on a stock 600 really wakes up the low end and mid-range
  • Gearing...I would shoot for 19-42 teeth
  • Upgrade rear skid shocks. Helps in all types of riding but really helps with transfer in the deep. Makes a big difference over stock when riding in the deep
  • If you could swing it, a 660 Carls big bore would be at the top of my list. They were running some specials a little while ago. If the sled is even close to being due for a set of pistons, this would be the perfect opportunity. The power difference is unreal. They will run with and often better than piped 800's right up to about 3.5 feet. Then the torque of the 8 will just slightly outpull the 660. The 660 is a much quicker revving motor. My wife's 660 pulls 2 grams more weight (with the BB's) then my 09 800 with an almost identical helix'
  • I would also add that going thru the clutches, having the primary shimmed correctly (if you don't have all the tools which most people don't) making sure all of the bushings are good, and having it balanced should be the number 1 priority
  • I like adding extra intake vents. Firenice has some real nice ones that go behind the windshield and the dash vent. Do not modify ( or gut) the stock airbox
  • Verify proper TPS adjustment

What weight Belly Busters are you running in the 660? I'm assuming 3000'-6000' Cascade Cement just like here in Oregon.

64 grams and turning about 8,200- 8,250 with a 153 powerclaw track at McCall. I have a set of Ron's custom weights that weigh 65.5 grams that we run around home in that 3,000-5,500 ft. Ron's weights are a little more loaded in the center of the weight than are the BB's.

Dave,

Which primary spring are you using at either location? I have in-laws in McCall so I ride there some as well.
