Ipod touch help

I dont think its the iTouch, it sounds more of a network issue. If I came over your house with my laptop, could I just turn it on and get internet as it stands? By they way, if I am coming over to your house, you best have some really good coffee....I'm not cheap. ;)

Coffee's on man
Ya I dont get it, I can use my PSP and 2 different laptop's but the i touch will connect to the router and when I try to connect to the net I get "cannot connect to server", by the look of the iPod forum Im not the only one
this thing is cool, Cant wait to get online with it, Sirius online anytime i'm within 100 ft of my house

Do you have any Security on your wireless? WEP or otherwise? I have seen this cause issues in setup when trying to combine apple and pc mixtures of products. If you have security enabled on your router try shutting it down and while still sitting at your main PC try to connect with the touch and see if it works. If it does then you have a security negotiation failure and at least that will give you a starting point.

Try this:
3- On you Ipod Touch (IPT) go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings and reset
4- Now go to settings/WiFi make sure it and ask to join networks are enabled "On"
5- Find your router name and select it then hit the little blue arrow next to it and under DHCP make sure there are numbers in IP address - Subnet - Router - DNS (if there are no numbers in the router or DNS section then your IPT is not picking them up and you will not connect to the network)This can be caused by many things but usually it's an incompatablility with your router.
6- If everything looks good then try to connect to the internet using Safari or one of the other online apps and see it it goes through.

I am assuming you do NOT have WEP or any other security enabled on your router. If you do, disable it all and try it. If that doesnt work, box it up and ship it to me. I'll try it for a year or two and let you know how it goes. :)

Ya brotha, I think yer onto it, I got nothing in Router or DNS
Can you help with a solution?
I cant enter data in "Router" but i can in "DNS"
i thought this Apple stuff just worked when you got it

Thanks

Go to wifi settings. If your router is there, by name, can you click it and tell it to join network? You shoudlnt have to put anything in there if you are running DHCP. Make sure 'ask to join networks' is enabled as well.

Try this as well:

* Go to Settings.
* Select Wi-Fi.
* Chose a network.
* Select the blue arrow next to the network you are connected to.
* Select DNS.
* Change the IP Address to 208.67.222.222

Opus I appreciate the help man
But Im still kinda confused
You say "Select DNS and then "Change IP" but they are different things

I can add info to DNS in DHCP but I can only change the IP in Static

Sorry to be a PITA but this is like learning Chinese or something

I disabled my security and turned Wi fi off and back on and it still wont connect and no info apears in router or DNS

btw you could also upgrade the firmware on the router depending on how old it is but you may also try to dmz the router and open up all ports to see if its an imbound traffic thing.i know with the playstation 3 it required a certain port range to operate on and they had to be opened up. btw if you try this and it works make sure you turn dmz off and post back here.

Sorry dude
I'm in waaay over my head, when I read that DMZ the router thing I think I felt some brain cells pop, I'm not worthy
The iPod forum has a bunch of guys with the same problem but no answers, I'm kinda surprised the most common MP3 player wont happily marry up to the most common router
All I wanna do is surf **** on my iPod, is that too much to ask!!!
