I am out here in a area where we are have dedicated service to verizion and have terrible coverage with other companies. I am looking to get a iphone but since Verizon is locked out until maybe first of year? or now MAYBE first qtr. of year or who knows when. I started to look at this jailbreaking and unlocking. Has anyone done this? will it work? obviously I cant roll into verizon and ask for my esn to be switched so can you do that yourself?

Easy to do but it will no longer be supported or under warranty by Apple. I would wait for the Verizon iPhone....early 2011 per a recent article published (not sure where I read it).
I went to youtube and searched it and you get 50% say "It works and heres how" the other half claiming its a hoax. I dont know alot about phones but I do know the foundation of the operating systems are different so Im going to lean on hoax??
Works okay- my kid and his roomates have done several. It doesn't have all the functionality but probably 95%.
PS- Just go get the Droid- we have Verizon and thats what hes got and absolutely loves it.

yep I would wait also but my Palm Treo looks like a old brick phone and works like crap. Have to do something soon and the iphone just seems to be rumors. What do you guys think of the new Fascinate? will it hot spot like the Droid?
I just bought the Fasicanate about a month ago, and love it. I had the Droid before that. The only problem I've had so far with the new Samsung is the GPS is hit, & miss. One day it works great, and the next day not so much. I've talked to tech support from Samsung, and there supposed to be releasing an update for it, but couldn't tell me when. It comes with Bing, which I didn't care for, so I had to download google for it, but everything was free, just took a little more time to customize it to my liking. I can say the picture with the Amoled lighting is amazing, and looks better than any other phone out there. It's a little bigger than the I-phone, but weighs quite a bit less.

I've read when rooting the phones, if there not done right, they become a real expensive brick. Be careful if you do that, and make sure you do it right the 1st time. You might only get 1 chance.
Yes, it will hotspot using wi-fi, so it's alot faster than the I-phone also. You'll see that in the review.
