Iowa Mom Charged With Using Hammer On Son


A northwest Iowa woman is accused of using a claw hammer to strike her 5-year old son several times on his head.

Lyon County authorities have charged Nikki Moreno with willful injury, which is a felony.

The sheriff's department says Moreno also pushed her son down a flight of stairs, bit his arm, struck him with a belt and burned him.

Moreno is already in jail facing child endangerment charges.
