Marathon has broadened its offerings in the snowmobile and ATV hauling area with the lower price point Marathon Lite. All the quality of the standard Marathon deck with streamlined manufacturing processes for the headache rack, bobtail and rear legs.

Marathon Lite comes with an 11′ folding ramp (5′ 9″ when folded) as well as Marathon’s standard LED lighting package/OEM wiring harness, 8′6″ max-width extend-able sides, bent tube headache rack, and is available in 7′ or 8′ length. We’ve even provided cut-outs in the extend-able sides for the addition of Superclamp hooks. (Superclamps not included) and we’ve spaced the ramp rungs for future application of Superglides.

Marathon Lite is targeted at ATV users, but with the addition of one Superglide kit Marathon Lite will be able to accommodate snowmobiles as well! Marathon Lite MSRP is set at an extremely affordable $2575.00

So what is missing to allow for 1000$ less? Marathon builds a nice deck, good to see they are trying to be competitive with pricing. My only complaint with them is the ramps take up too much room and of course the price.

Some of the other minor differences are mig welding instead of tig (same strength not as pretty), less complicated headache rack, etc. We have pictures of both the Marathon Lite and the Standard deck posted in the gallery of our website. http://gallery.trax2treadz.com/ It's pretty easy to pick out the differences when looking at the pictures. Should also add the deck extension does work with the Marathon Lite.

Maybe its just me but the comment about look at the pictures and figure it out yourself doesnt really say much for costumer service. Since I have a deck I dont really care what is new I was just trying to add a follow up question that most consumers would have ie. if I where to purchase a lite deck what would I be giving up. I know if I was in the market for a new deck that comment alone would make me think....... I know where I am not spending my money.

Marathon typically builds a very solid product hope it still applies.

I am certain the " take a look and you will see the differance " was not posted as a negitive comment. Lots of times pictures help to better explain things. Visual aids are always nice.
Best of luck with your new venture guys. when its time to upgrade, i know who to call.

I didn't see it as a negative post either. trax probably knew there would be lots of questions about what the difference was, and with people not being able to see the decks in person offered up a solution of looking at pictures. marathon is on of the best decks out there. I had one last year. only reason i sold it was I am taking a break from sledding. when I get another deck, marathon will be my choice.

Actually Tuesday when we became Marathon dealers we went up to Edmonton to pick up our deck and toured the facility with Vaughn. When it came to looking at the regular deck and the deck lite Vaughn took us out to the yard and showed us the differences. We could have sat in the office all day talking about it but without the visual it was really difficult to explain, that's why we took pictures to post on our site so that others would have the same visual comparison that we had.

I am not sure how one could explain the less complicated headache rack without seeing the picture. Most of the differences you guys had picked out already:

1) No superclamps or deck hooks mounted

2) Less complicated headache rack

3) Mig instead of tig welding

4) Folding instead of telescopic ramp

5) No superglides

6) Different bobtail

7) Rear legs

It was not our intention to blow you off or come across as contrite we were simply trying to answer your question in as less as complicated manner as possible. Apparently that is not what you wanted.

As far as customer service, Tuesday we do the very best that we can. We really believe in the marathon line up and are proud to be able to represent them in the best way we know how.

For those of you concerned about the amount of room taken up by the ramp it also possible to gain some additional distance (about 1") between the bed of the truck and the ramp by adding the UHMW strips to the ramp pocket. The strips as well, greatly aid in the ease of removing and replacing the ramp in the pockets.

A survey deck can also be supplied which will increase the height of the deck by another three inches. These models are only available in 8' models.
