Hi thanks for mailing back,i am an oceanographer, i am at sea right
now,i am buying this for my son as a surprise gift and I am glad you
accepted my offer.I can only pay through paypal at the moment as i
dont have access to my bank account online(i dont have internet
banking with it),but i have it attached to my paypal account, and this
is why i insisted on using paypal to pay,all i will need is your
paypal email address to make the payments, and if you dont have a
paypal account yet,its pretty easy to set one up at www.paypal.com,i
will be expecting your email.I have a pick up agent that will come for
the pick up after payments has been sorted.

Interesting!! They are usually trying to sell, not buy. What they do is take your money and before the bank can figure out it won't clear, they are long gone....

It does sound fishy... I bet whats coming next is "I will have my agent who is picking up the sled send the money from my escrow account once I have inspected the product and found it satisfactory" bla bla bla.

Dont forget the 14 day trial period LOL.

RUN, NOW, far and fast...They will try and acquire the unit without paying you, you lose the sled, and it will disappear, and your money never arrives.

They are all over the net and even the Auto Trader right now...

You should e-mail him back that the sled is currently in E-Bay's shipping facility ready to load on a truck....you are stuck in Nigeria until the gubm't releases your 'papers'....and you can only accept Western Union...:face-icon-small-hap

Ha -- that would be hilarious. It's a scam -- I bet you can never get this guy on the phone -- only email.

scam.

they have a paypal account and then they pick the sled up. 3 months later your money is being taken out of your account as the buyers didn't have effiecent funds and cant be found.

happened to me selling some items on ebay. i sent paypal the reciepts and i still got burned on the cash

Agreed- SCAM.

This is a take on a previous popular scam where they paid with stolen credit cards and had you ship the items to a non-existent address. They would intercept the shipment with UPS/FedEx, re-route, and then when the credit card payment is pulled due to fraudulent activity you are left with no money and no way to get your stuff back.

Oh yeah...SCAM!

But, I think they will come at a different angle. They will say that paypal will hold the money until they receive the item. Then you will notice that they pay you too much and they will ask you to pay them the difference because of the mistake. Then you ship the item and realize that all the email you were getting from Paypal were bogus and you lose your item also. Played with a couple of scammers playing this game before.

I bet if you give them your paypal info, you will get a fake email from paypal saying that the money was rec'd, and will be held in escrow until shipment. It's easy to know it's a fake email because they have spelling and grammar errors everywhere.

Scam. The link he provided has a typo in it, thought it might take you to a different address that looks like Paypal, then steal your bank info when you go to set up a paypal account. He states he does not have internet access and no access to his bank account but he can pay via paypal...what a tard.

In any case it's for sure a scam. Tell him you own a plane and helocopter and you can land on his ship for a personal check. And that he can buy those too if he has any money left over.

Hatchers I have a sled for sale on ksl and that same guy emails me everytime I repost it. Kind of funny cause the first time I got it I told him great when the guy comes to get it he could bring the money. No answer back but then I reposted it and he has emailed me 3 more times what a dump ***

Scam!! My business went through something similar last year. It is amazing how these people prey upon our good nature and we give them the benefit of the doubt. I learned my lesson and in hind sight I can't believe I went as far as I did. The signs were staring me in the face the whole time. On yours for example, if his guy is such a great oceanographer, then why his his grammar horrible? Tell him it sounds like a bad deal, new sale terms are buyer picks it up in person with cash money, other than that - no deal. That would be my response.

sounds like a scam. I thought pay pal was safe. Imagine that. I know they are doing it with cashiers checks. Big no no. I will give you a check and as soon as the funds clear my shipper will pick it up. As soon as the thing is gone the bank will take the funds from your account. Half the stuff I've seen on craigslist is a scam. Cash in fist (cif) is the way to do it and you can still get scammed that way.
