exactly how it sounds. oil light comes on for a few minutes of riding - shut the sled off - oil light doesnt come on upon start up. ride a while longer, oil light comes on then maybe goes off after 10 minutes or so. It's using oil, I've put plenty in, so there must be a bad wire somewhere? It did it the first time I rode it and continues to do so. sometimes it doesnt come on for long periods of time, sometimes it seems to always be on. Asked a mechanic about it, he said not to worry but I'm gonna take it in and have it looked at if they have time. dealer is always swamped and it takes lots of time for people to get their machines back, so i dont really want to drop it off and then be told we're leaving on a trip the next day if its gonna sit for 2 weeks. That seems to be a small problem but its really bugging me in the back of my mind with the history of these polaris 800's. I really love my sled but I'm just thinking its gonna let me down big time one day. I've only had one motor go on the last 6 sleds that I've had and it was due to my inexperience and carelessness.

Mine does the same thing.. I'm not going to worry about it until this summer when I'm not ridding it..lol... I know it has oil and I know it a bad sensor and I know I'm not going to waste a weekend to fix it when I can be ridding it.. This sled fing ROCKS....

Just a FYI..

Take sled to dealer... Or bring the ECM in.. Get it Remapped..

It Fixed it.. Here..

Computer Map is just screwwey.. ... with it..

Normally it should be free..

i had that happen on one ride when i didn't top off the oil, still had plenty in it, it would only do when i was on steep slopes, or getting stuck with the sled straight up and down, then it would just take awhile to go away. when its full of oil i haven't had a problem.

ooohhh my god i feel so much better that it isnt just my sled. i guess if its using oil i really shouldnt worry, and i'm pretty good about putting oil in sleds since i have been riding cats and normally cant go for more than one full ride with stock oil pump settings......I'll ask about the reflash thing but i doubt my dealer will no anything about it. i should be their consultant on sled repairs since i spend so much time on here and hear about stuff long before they do haha

oil light

Have had my sending unit and sensor replaced and still does it. I check my dang oil 10 times a ride to see if I lost the cap. Brake light likes to come on by itself too.

it just seems the sensors are really sensitive to a change in the oil level. Even on a slight slope they come on. I wouldn't worry about it.
