Intercooler

i dont think you will like it. but i have been wrong before. just let me know what size you want and i will fab one up.

Wouldn't like it?

Why Bryce? What is your thinking behind the inter-cooler. I know on my 04 REV if my screens where my head light would be plug with snow, it doesn't run as crisp (no cooling). When I turbo the 2011 PTEK I want to keep my headlight, but would think having an inter-cooler would more efficient. You tell me?

where are you going to put it if you keep your headlight? if you put an inter cooler in a heat soaked area its pretty much just going to get hotter. plus with most inter coolers you loose around a pound of boost making your system less efficient and also adding lag. If you really wanted to try it I would suggest a water to air system, sounds like the way to go to me, but then you have to fab up a cooling/ water system. up to you in the end tho

Email me or pm islandoo .. GOOD air to water units ( shaman ) have NO pressure drop under 20 psi..

Though you do not end up with 60 degree temps in the box. you doo get a stabile temp for solid jetting..If you went to a seperate loop for the intercooler you could reach the lower temps,,but 100 degrees cooler than no intercooler and consistent temp is sure to help

the press drop on these is so minimal its moot..The cores do not flow thru the tiny openings of the antique air to air units.. look at them on frozenboosts site

many types to fit many needs.. barrel style 2.5 in and out is one or 3'' in and out is my favorite..

with water to air can a guy just use the engine coolant to cool it ?

you can, thats what he was talking about, problem being then your motor warms up to 100+ so your charge temps can only get so cool.. when WOT your gonna be over 100* no questions asked, thats just how it is on any reasonable amount off boost, but it warms up the air at low boost and cruisng around.. so its kinda some trade offs, the benefits are you do get a VERY consistant charge temps making tuning easier.

No. The best way is to ad a cooler under the tunnel and seperate pump then you can keep your charge tube temp around 50f. If you cannot do that then the coolant after the coolers have to go thru the intercooler to be any affective. Just my experences in the past couple years.

Xactly!!! simple and still very effective.. charge box and tube are cool to the touch..much better than the same without .Theres a lill more to it but damn little..

I am running a water to air intercooler on my xp. Charge temps stay around 100 low boost or high boost! For right now cooler is plumbed around rear main cooler, there are a couple of tricks though to make this work!

any one willing to post pics of there water heat exchanger and pump. I didnt realize they didnt loose boost at lower psi. might try one out then. water/air

I was at tss last week and I seen the air to water setup he does on the 1200's and it is pretty trick and I think a similair idea would work on the turbo 8s. What he does is he uses the front cooler above the drivers strictly for his itercooler. He uses an electric pump to cycle the coolant from that cooler to his water cooled airbox. I think a similar system would work good on a 800 turbo as well. I would give dave micku a call he might be able to fab something up.

Here is my intercooler setup on my '04 REV. It's an air to air. I built everything myself, no more headlights :). I had to machine inserts in the pyramid to accept the outlets. It might have been possible to reverse the IC to the top side instead...dunno. The opening for the headlights direct the air across the IC perfectly.
