Intake snow accumulation and left side plug

Rode some pretty fluffly snow the other day and it was coming over the hood non stop. Noticed the frogskin covering the right air intake would get covered with snow. I have read about spraying with a repellent of some sort. Any good suggestions? Scotchguard?

Also was wondering about opening up the left side intake. How much noisier is it with the hole opened up? Looks like a plug, can it be pushed out or does it have to be drilled out?

Drilled out. Its been a while but I think unless that is drilled out the left side does nothing correct me if I am wrong.

Oops, fixed post. Meant right side intake was getting plugged up. Couple times could hear the engine struggling for air.
