Intake options

Im replacing some parts on my HCR (2010) and and looking at getting some sort of improved intake system. Just seems like the stock one is just so bulky and un-needed. Ive seen the BDX ones but I've heard guys just using a Sno-Pro intake as well. Any good feed back?

though there are a few different intake setups If the air is not drawn from out side the hood how effective will it really be?Air follows the path of least resistance if its under the hood it drawing underhood heat.

I ran the BDX on my M7 and liked it. Like Hardass said I wanted fresh air not hot underhood air. I had to tweak it to seal(block cover) properly but I ran it for 3 years. I have not pulled the trigger yet on my M8 as far as intake systems so I was kind of wondering the same thing for next year. Prob go with another BDX set up.

The snopro intake is essentially the same as the BDX, but without the options & for more $$.

Same with timbersled & D&D, though those both have a little more filtration than BDX, but BDX gives you what you need to have a cold air setup.

I run mine with all possible intakes from the outside, but then I put two small intakes on the shelf as well, so that it can pull underhood if all else fails.

I also run a snopro bra instead of the provided bumper screens, as it is removeable, fixable, and covers the hood/ bumper junction, which keeps the snow from coming in on top of the intake.

The stock intake plenum gets melted or hot once you pipe your sled. Some pipes might have enough clearance to not touch the intake plenum but the SLP defiantly heats up the plenum is what I have found.
With the aftermarket intake as soon as you have snow over the hood you can tell your sucking hot air, if you have a fat map or extreme heat you may develop a low speed bog.
if you run the Stock pipe stay w the stock intake.
