Heres the "Tube", cheap (~$10), easy to install, about 8 minutes, and lets the air come before the sensor. Pics attached of after riding in 4' pow we were in and the frozen stock DOO inlet, never missed a beat nor dropped RPM.
You go to Lowes or Home Depot, get the 1.5 inch od "Sump Pump" corrugated tube it comes in 20' I think, If you have XP friends, you can split this huge cost .
Take a 1-3/4in hole saw, center your hole in the front of the air box, once done, get a vacuum (small attachment - or gerry rig a tighon tube ) to suck out the debris inside). shove in the tube (might hafta use a screwdriver), then cut the length long enuf to wind it over the brace above the muffler and I rested ours above the oil resevoir, just let it lay there. I also took large porus mesh and covered the inlet just to keep out any possible large debris. It works when boondockin in the deepest pow over the hood. However, still have a cut out with a power carve to the inlet side. Don't know why.
