Rode my sled in some deep snow. The SLP intake is not for me.

I want to go to the FNI set up but I think I need a stock Plenum to start with.

I wrote FNI --

I have the SLP Pipe, SLP Air Intake and Belt cover.

Can I use the SLP Belt cover with the FNI intake unit 106MKA.
Would you sell me just the plastic air intake alone?

I don't have any of the stock intake system as I bought the sled used.

Would I need any other componets to use the FNI intake ?

You will need the stock air plenum which connects to the throttle bodies.
Then all you need is our airbox kit for $299.00 complete. Airbox and hanger bracket only is $250.00.

Help --- I do have a WTB in the Intake carbs swapmeet.

After I get he Airbox Straigntened out then I can get Bumper.

I think with the 2005 900 RMK and the SLP pipe you will be good running the FnI intake without the offset boots that FnI sells ... Double check me on this, but the 2005's have more clearance than the 2006's do i believe.

Either way, you can run the FnI or the Timbersled intake and run pretty much any aftermarket bumper you want to put on with either of those intakes.

If FnI would have been making their 900 intake at the time I bought my T-sled intake, I assuredly would have bought that one as it's a lot better way to do it.

I was in the same boat as you are, I had the SLP intake and decided it was a way better deal to put a bumper on the sled ... so I had to buy a brand new plenum :(

Expensive "oops" :(

Hands down... the FNI Airbox... IMO... Is the best airbox on the market for the 900...

The plenum you need is actually called a "boost box" from Polaris.

Sell your SLP airbox/guard for $125 to a flatlander on Ebay or HCS to help with the cost.

You need, #13, Pt #1203147 Asm., Boost Box [Incl. 7,8,15,17] $126 online discount price.

Those offset boots work but you can cut a stock set and acheive similar results.

You can bend the horizontal support strut / crossbeam for more exhaust flex and less wear on the boots.

LOOK around a lot of used boost boxes to be found. AND you can always make your own from the platform. $299 seems a little stiff for mass produced plastic??!!!
Searching will show you some great ideas!

The price would seem high IF they were truly mass produced... FNI is a smaller shop that focuses on high quality parts that fit a need... He has to put up a lot of money to have them molded and then trim, assemble, etc... plus all the head scratching, tool making etc...

A solid value IMO.

After installing and riding several I would agree, people that have them are fond of them just saying there are monetary vs time options availible.
And if FNI gets what it wants GOOD for them!!!!! They brought it to market when everyone was of the lower vent mindset.

I just did this mod to my 05 900 as well, ditched the SLP and went with the Fire and Ice airbox and the headlight intake system from Paul, yes a great guy with high quality parts.
I could not find a used boost box at the time so went new and that hurt. I run the SLP Pipe, so ordered the offset intake boots thought I was going to need them however had good clearance and now I can place a real bumper on the front that baby!

Good post MH:beer;

Just had to get my $.02 in here as that's my sled:D:p:D

One thing I would like to caution all F&I airbox owners to look out for is that you may have clearance issues with the left hood vent rubbing on the top of the airbox. I have noticed a distinct wear-mark on the top of my airbox as the left "nostril" vent has been rubbing while operating the sled... I have already trimmed the vent on the underside of the hood once, but am going to have to trim it more as it is still rubbing.... wasn't too happy when I saw that:(:(

Same issue as you 94... I think it may have even been rubbing to the extent that by closing the hood, it pushed down on my FnI airbox preventing it from sealing to the hood properly.
I trimmed the left hood vent, and hood on the inside where it was contacting the airbox. I ended up trimming one of the plastic rivet holes off, so I drilled and installed a new rivet further out where I didn't need to trim. I also added some closed cell adhesive foam to the airbox intake area to be sure it was sealing to the hood pod.

With the last 2 post about rubbing, I checked mine.
First of all I got the vent kits from Paul at FNI and the side doors are shorter than the side vents he sell for 900's so I cut 1 panel out and dressed up alittle on the fab table, also as you can see I have the FNI air intake, it seals up perfect, slight crush on the foam for sealing, I did however have to tweak the clutch gaurd to fit because my towers were clser than RMK's. And the bracket for the intake I had to tweak alittle too. Thanx for the heads up!
That's what I like about this site, a **** load of guys that share their knowlage!

Thanks for all the help / Great Pics

I sent Super Dave3 a PM on the Boost Box.

I also got in touch with 2Poor in Boise.

Going to tour his factory, he has a 1140 and a Turbo Build going on.

Thanks again.

Any one need a SLP intake ???????
