Same here I believe. Trailer itself is covered as an extension of the vehicle insurance. But snowmobiles need to have their own insurance. In this day and age, it's suicide to not have at least liability insurance on your toys. Too many people are read to sue.
my trailer is NOT covered under the truck policy. ive never heard of a company that did offer that coverage.
the metlife grand protect package is cool. you need to have coverage on your truck, trailer, and sled - but in the event of an accident you only pay one deductible for all insured items.
i used to have the cheapest insurance i could find until my aunt who is a bankruptcy attorney told me some horror stories of people who have been insured and lost everything due to being under insured.
Nope, I asked if I could have insurance on my trailer. State Farm told me that it is covered with my towing vehicle insurance (but all the damage is part of the truck limits). I asked what happens if someone steals my trailer from my house and was told it was covered by their policy for home owners. You are making me nervous though, I might have to ask again to be sure. I have really good insurance with State Farm (truck, wife's car, third vehicle, snowmobile, trailer, camper, guns, jewelry, house, etc.).
I'm an agent and have access to lots of companies policies. The trailer is usually covered for liability while being towed by your pick up but physical damage to the trailer is not. Some home owners policies will cover small trailers( usually 1500 value or less depending on company) for physical damage. This is all dependent on the company. I do not know of a company that covers the sleds as an extension of the truck and trailer for physical damage. If you have a sled on a trailer and want it covered in the event of a wreck then I'd suggest you cover it with full coverage. If your agent tells you it is covered without you carrying full coverage while being towed, have them put it in writing on their letter head and notarized. In that case, if you had an accident, either the insurance company or your agents E and O coverage will be responsible for paying the damages as it would be your agents fault for informing you incorrectly.
