basicaly i recently traded my dirt bike for this guys m7. and my mom managed to lose the registration and proof of purchase, and she is now freaking out claming we cant get it insured. im not sure how it works insuring a sled under your name but what documents are needed exactly? thanks for any help. and also what agency's in british columbia offer sled coverage?

Shouldn't be too big of a deal. If you can get back to the guy who you traded with and get a Bill of Sale, showing the trade value or what you paid for the sled, VIN number, plate number, make, year and model. You will have to register the sled and pay the PST. Go to ICBC where you register the sled and tell them the story. ICBC will then have you go to the RCMP office with the sled where they will check your VIN number on the bill of sale against the VIN number on the sled. They will then run a stolen vehicle check on the machine. This is a free check. No charge to you but may take a day or two. If it comes back as not stolen, they give you a form indicating it is clean. You take this form back to ICBC and they'll transfer the registration into your name. At that time you'll have to pay the PST. Not sure how the tax thing works if you traded straight across(?) Then you can go to an insurance outlet and get it insured. If you have a Capri Insurance outlet near you I'd highly recommend them. Good Luck :beer;
