Progressive only insures the bike not the kit! They will give me up to 3000$ in upgrades above the bike cost but will not insure a kit! Any one have a company that will cover my horse?

I have Progressive for my bike insurance as well. Although my agent told me that we could insure my Mt. Horse kit as an accessory coverage and I have that coverage right now at $5,000 - I just checked my policy to make sure of that. You might ask your agent about doing it this way? Good luck -

Most are underwritten through Formost by your provider IIRC. Checked and found it was cheaper to use homeowners rather than Auto,,no idea why.
Tried to go with " stated value " ( classic/collector car ) but never got an answer?!!

Progressive has a $3000 limit on accessories? So I can't get to where it's reLly covered 12kx450 is like $5000 and the kit at $3000 still comes up short! They will insure my pro RMKs with stated value turbo and won't touch my bike and kit?

Insurance in BC Canada

In BC, Canada I use Beacon Insurance. They insure year round based on the actual value of the bike and kit. I just sent them copies of my receipts and a link to the Timbersled website. Once they agree on the value, I pay the fees. What is good is that it protects me for theft, fire, collision (launch off cliff, total against tree or avalanche etc) and liability. Also, since the value is pre-negotiated, if I do make a claim, there is not bickering over the value of the bike etc. When i take the kit off of my bike in the summer, I can get additional basic road insurance and plate my bike. I've insured in for $18,000 CDN and it costs $600 for full year of insurance.
I don't know if that is more or less expensive than American options; however, it is the best I have found here.

winterhawk

thanks for the info,i have beacon insurance on my bmw,350 a year,so 600 hun on 18 sounds right.
are there a lot of guys riding timber sleds in whistler?

sorry got you name wrong,whistlerhawk,oops.

i lived in Whistler for years, good times.

Not many of us in Whistler but it is growing. There is a rental company doing Snowbikes (Geoff Kyle & Co) and some guys in Pemberton are getting some.

I think Progressive automatically insures the bike for that amount of accessories ($3000) but I recall when I signed up there was an option to increase that. I had my Street Bike I built insured for $17,000 stock and $13,000 in accessories for a total of $30,000 through Progressive. Although when I did that, the agent arranged it. My KTM I insured myself online.

Just got off the phone with Progressive and they said they will not insure a homemade snowbike. I tried to argue about homemade. They also said they will insure the bike with acc. but when the adjuster shows up and sees the track on it,:help: it will be VOID!:help:
