Insurance Claims Whats the Damage?

Who's the insurance company?

I did a claim last year. Was sorta a PITA. But I got my money  I went through Kuna Insurance.

Your premium will go up, but not very much.

My premium never went up after I totalled a sled. I was insured through Auto Owners. Might be a little more than 3K because I bet they figure you'll have to strip the entire chassis to replace it so figure labor at your typical shop rate ($60-$120 from what I've seen). Good luck, it's always a PITA to get a fair deal from the insurance company, took me 6 months to settle so I just put the sled back together and rode it while we were fighting.

I would take it to a dealer and get it appraised by him first, then let State Farm do theirs and compare. I took mine to a dealer and it was a total loss. Thank god too, cause I didnt want to rebuild it anyways  I wanted my money. I dont think $3000 will be enough IMO, especially if its an insurance claim.

A friend of mine totalled a 99 700 RMK of mine and the next year I totalled an 00 800 RMK and my rates didn't change.

My premium never went up with state farm when one of my sleds got totalled out. Generally with state farm they just go off the dealer bid sheet and don't even request pix or send an adjuster. I would get the tunnel and bulkhead replaced, aluminum will just keep cracking around the weld.

State Farm is awesome. I only turned in one claim. About $5000 in damage and didn't argue abit. And when it was all over, My rates did not go up. I ws told just "not to make a habit of it". You should be in great shape.

Yep had 2 claims with them last year over $5000 rates did not go up and they let me do the work. Pay $79.00/yr with a $500 ded.

just a question? did it break from normal riding, or a rollover impact or something? seems if its normal wear &tear a new tunnel-bulkhead will just break again. warranty?

weld it and plate up the broken area and ride it, probably last longer.

i was told once that a claim has to be at least 40% of the book value of the sled to total it. take it to a dealer you know and have him find every little thing that is cracked/broken and add it onto the cracked tunnel and with labor i bet you are over that 40% mark.

i did it with my 02 renegade, when i rolled it. the hood, steering post and t-arms were smoked but it wasn't enough to total it. my dealer went over the whole thing and found a small crack in the frame as well as my rear suspension had some damage and that got me over the mark.

Injuried Cat?

That sucks about the Cat! Hope that doesn't put you out of riding too long.

If it's a total, buy the savage back. Have someone weld it and ride it until it dies...or until you kill it. Put the rest of the insurance money in the bank so it's ready for the next sled.

Or you can get rid of it and get an Apex. :D:D:D

if you get an adjuster that know sleds, you may be in for the "we will be denying your claim based on repeated instances and normal wear and tear, possibly associated with a mfg flaw or defect".

i know i am one of those guys. LOL! insurance is for impacts and accidents, not repeated instances, or abuse, maintainence, neglect or mfg issues. in reality you should be going against the mfg for your issue. you can use the insurance company to do that by giving them more instances where this same failure has happened on the same model sled. it is called subrogation.

the insurance finds the person or persons at fault (insurance company, manufacturer, individual) whoever is at fault for the failure, or incident. and goes after them so they dont have to be out the fee to repair or replace something that is not your fault or theirs. hope this helps. good luck to you. ski
