insurance claim from last year's damage?

Just getting my 2010 m8 ready to sell, checking things out and see that sometime last year I dinged the bulkhead under the brake rotor. It's still 100% functional, but it's bad enough to warrant replacement. I carry insurance year round but wondering if you can submit a claim 5 months after the damage occurred?

I remember when it must have happened, but I thought the only damage was hood and slightly tweaked a arms and wasn't going to do a claim.

Anyone have any experience?

Last year my buddy, had about $1500 worth of damage to his sled that he got fixed after his last ride last spring. He went to pull it out to do his fall check over and had a crack in his tunnel that he noticed. He turned it in and got it insured. But I think it all depends on the insurance company and your agent.

His agent is my uncle, and he covered it....

I just got done with a claim through state farm for damage that happened in February. I didn't notice the damage and start the claim until august. I think it all depends on your insurance.

State Farm has always taken care of me including a situation much like this. I'd call your agent.

But make sure you tell him, "So my buddy crashed his sled and was curious if this company would cover it several months later". Otherwise you have to pretend it happened in this upcoming season.

FWIW, i've had amazng luck with Foremost. They were awesome.
