i have read everything i can find and im wondering if you really have to reloacte the front holes with the 153 skid forward and up or not i know you have to run 9 inch wheels and a relocated axle to fit a 162 but is it true a 159 will be a direct bolt in

I've done it all the ways with a 162 skid 162 track, a 159 track and 153 skid and a 153 skid and 162 track. From my experieince the 153 skid and 162 track is too much of a difference in size it just really doesn't work that great or make the sled handle very well. The 159 153 is a direct bolt into the stock Yamaha holes even though the center to center distance of the two skids are different by 1/4" but you need to run anti stab wheels because it is a pretty big pull back. The 162 162 combo is the best and also keeps the front of the sled feeling the lightest. From my experience thats the only way to go I wouldn't waste my time with a 153 skid.

I don't remember who it was but there was someone on the TY forum I think that had done that with the 153 skid and the 159 track that did not have favorable results. The other thing is you lose track in the snow. The shorter the rails the less amount of the track in the snow.

If you already have the stuff you might just as well bolt it in and try it and see how you like it just be careful if you don't put the antistab on right away especially in the early season when the snow is so so, personally its not my favourite set up but it will work. The 153 skid will mount in the stock Yamaha holes and the 159 track will fit perfect with just the stock Cat 8" wheels. If it were me I'd sell the 159 get a 162 or 174 CE and get some Iceage rails but thats just me. The skid works pretty well as a boondocker but it ain't the best for a guy who wants to climb. Are you trying to run an old Doo track?
