Installing Front Bulhhead Cooler on Pro?

they should have made it a really easy mod to add.. front cooler is always very effective in marginal snow conditions. I added the stock front cooler back to my edge mod sled and lowered temp by 40 degrees on trail..I was to say the least pretty stunned that it would make such a difference. My friends regular 2011 rmk with factory front cooler runs about 15-20 + colder than my pro on the trail.
I'd take the 3-4 pounds anyday for no temp worries.

The thing is the slides will get hot if you are able to get away without the scratchers so if the Pro is getting hot your slides need the scratchers down anway.

On the Pro RMK... It is not practical to do this..

Probably easier and cheaper to buy an entire bulkhead and tunnel assy from a Std RMK and swap ever thing over.. the cooler is part of the structure and partly bonded in place.

If you want more cooling... go with the FTX add on rear cooler.
That one has been out for a few years now. Best in the business.

I agree but when my wife is riding the sled (slower) it could use the extra cooling.

Do the FTX cool as much as the bulkhead coolers in slow conditions, hardpack etc...

i added a cooler from van amburgs and it works great. took about 2 hours to add in the back and it almost doubled the rear cooling. and ski scratchers work really good to.

In marginal snow... The rear coolers get more snow "spray" on them than the bulkhead coolers. ... IMO.. Yes they would cool as well or better.

Adding a front cooler is possible and has been done. My local dealer, Greg Coen Motor Company, did this for one of his customers. If you would like more info on it, give them a call.
A link to his website is in my signature line.

We did install a front cooler on a 2011 Pro. The engine, rear suspension, drivers all had to come off the the sled to install it.Need the cooler and 2 hoses and a fitting for the head and some of the famous glue.It imo make that much difference as I rode it about 30 miles a couple weeks ago and still had to have the scratchers down, although the sled had a powerclaw turned around which throws ALL the snow out the back.

i have a 2011 standard rmk. road about 250 with my daughter on her indy 340. road between 25-35 mph and end up installing scratchers. running slow just doesn't get the snow up to the coolers. if we ran faster we didnt have to run scratchers down.:face-icon-small-hap

I run with a std and on my pro, there are times on the trail when I HAVE to run the scratchers, and he just doesn't, and if he does start to get warmer, dive off for 100 ft a few times and it cools down. My point - if I lose my scratchers on a ride in certain condition, stupid reverse trick or sage, I'm really scrambling to keep it cool on a trail out or up. FWIW.

i never run my scratchers on my 08 std rmk..... that includes 3in of snow on grass and dirt.... the std has more wheels too. since 08 ive only changed the slides once.

I would like a 2013 rmk but it probably wont get all the goodies........ so might as well look for a used 2012

I have a pro-rmk retro in illinois and have over 500 miles on it. Never saw over 125 on the temp and allway's scratchers. When we went ditch ridin never had them down. Luv the sled! Been snowmobilin since i was 8 and best sled I ever owned. Go out to albany the first week of march can't wait! Later, icemanmg
