Will it throw the readings off if one of the probes are in a 1/4" more than the other?

It will read slightly differnt then it would if it was in the right pos. But the numbers are just guild lines, you need to get a base line by checking plug color and piston wash compared to your EGT temps, after you figure out what temp each gauge shows for the proper burn it real does not matter what number you see. Youll never have both probes read the same anyways.
how far should the end of the probe be in the pipe? about center or 1/4 or????

Dont remember for sure its been a few years since i installed some but it think itw just past half.
