Install of Fox Float2's on 09 D8 163

Tried to install these today. There is interference between the top of the shock and the mount bracket. The front portion of the bracket on both sides. Looks like it needs to be ground done in order for things to fit. Anybody else with this problem? Should not have to grind the bracket in my mind? Pics included.

Gerrman,

Install them with the shock housing upside down, so the air valve is on the bottom. This will help protect the shock strut shaft as well because it will be up inside the shock well. You can install fox floats either way. Upside down you will not have a fit/clearance issue.

You have two options:

1 - Grind away a little bit of the mounting bracket to provide clearance.
2 - Install upside down

I installed mine upside down. Like said above Floats work either way. The upside down mounting also provides some protection of the shafts.

I ground my tabs down a touch but after running them a season I'm thinking about flipping them anyway just to help protect the shafts.

Gerry, If you look at the thread I did last season on the 09 plastic update on my sled I showed where I ground the brackets to make the foxs fit ...

Thanks Mike, I will search for the thread. I also talked to a couple of shops this AM and they said to grind the mounts to gain the required clearance. That's what I will do.

Why grind away structure when you can mount them upside down? It doesnt affect performance and it will protect the shaft. Just my 2 cents.

Found the thread Mike. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Exactly where it is hitting, so I will grind away. Thanks.

never say never I guess. Angle grinder will not fit with front nose plastic on. Don't have a die grinder. So I installed them upside down. Looks good. Thanks for the help guys.

actually it will very slightly affect unsprung weight..not enough for most to notice...

I got a set of Floats off a M sled to install on my Dragon but the bushings are to small and when I try to use the WE bushings, well they just don't fit. Where can a guy get the proper bushings for the Floats?

Thanks!
