Inn @ Arrowhead is Sled Friendily Again!!!

CnP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Inn at Arrowhead Under New Ownership, Catering to Snowmobilers.

CIMARRON, CO - James and Kathleen Belgard of Grand Junction are pleased to announce their purchase of The Inn at Arrowhead, located 5 miles off Highway 50, halfway between Montrose and Gunnison. The couple purchased The Inn in August of 2009 and are extremely excited to bring it back to its former reputation as a premier sled-in/sled-out lodge.

“Snowmobilers are our focus for the winter months, and we welcome them to The Inn. Our goal is to turn the Inn into a destination snowmobiling lodge,” says Kathleen. From the lodge, guests can access many miles of groomed trails and countless powder meadows and trees.

Situated high on the Alpine Plateau, The Inn at Arrowhead offers a full service restaurant, bar and lodging. Every room is well appointed and spacious, and each is equipped with its own gas fireplace.

With on-site trailer parking and direct access to the un-crowded riding on the Alpine Plateau, it’s a great place to spend a weekend. “The Inn is really ideal because snowmobilers can arrive, unload, and ride right from the front door.” added James.

In addition to the riding on the Alpine Plateau, the Inn is located within a 30-minute drive from several other world class snowmobiling areas, including Black Mesa, and the Little and Big Cimarron valleys; and within 90 minutes of the riding at Lake City, and Kebler Pass/Crested Butte.

The Inn at Arrowhead is open Thursday through Sunday each week. For more information or to make a reservation visit their website: www.innatarrowhead.com or give them a call at 970-862-8206.

Great People, Great Riding

In the interest of full disclosure, I am doing some consulting work with The Inn. James and Kathleen are super friendly and really working hard to make sledders feel welcome. The food is hot (and pretty damn tasty) and the beer is cold. There is quite a bit of great riding up there and you won't have trouble finding a place to park.

There will be a new website up pretty soon that will showcase what the area really offers. If anybody has any questions about the area/lodge, feel free to PM me, I'm happy to help.

Wife and I stayed there about 6 years ago for a Valentines weekend. Stayed in the suite, and had a great time. I didn't realize they were not sled friendly... :-) Not the extreme riding available at Irwin, but lots of fun riding.

Chad,

I'm not sure if Heath (previous owner) owned it at that time or not?

3-4 yrs ago the county stopped maintaining the trails from lake city up to the lodge. (sighted logging operations and lack of use)

With the trail head on the lake city side questionable the traffic all ended up at the lodge. last time I was there it was a cluster BLEEP!

Heath disliked the "winter" traffic he had some weird hours and would close the restaurant to the public in the evenings and on big weekends on a whim.
catering to his lodge guest I would imagine.

Last year the HOA formed their own club purchased a groomer and started to maintain the trails south towards lake city.

Now with a more sled friendly lodge owner it should be an even greater place to ride

Is there a trail map? Any hills to climb? Our club is always looking for sled in/out. Its 4.5 hr trip from north Denver. Probably 8-10 guests--all men.

Here's the map. No giant hills like Irwin, but plenty of sweet boondocking terrain with good snow. There are some decent hills to be found for some highmarking action. Deffinitley not as high of avy risk as say, Irwin or Lake City, so that's a good thing too.

Note that you can also ride in from the Lake City side, have lunch at The Inn, and then go back - super fun day trip. Maybe staying in Lake City would be a good option for your group, then you'd have access to The Alpine for uncrowded pow day trip with lunch at Arrowhead, and Lake City/Slumgullion for BIG, BIG climbs.

Thanks for the Cimmaron Club link. A quick glance at the topo shows about a 900' drop off the plateau (11,000') into a drainage with pretty good climbs up both aspects. Plenty good for us:)

Thanks.

No--it looks like 3 miles west of the trail. But we are very terrain savy and won't doo stupid stuff. Thanks for the warning.:beer;
