injectors

I'm going to up date my injectors, what is the right combination? Its a 2011 and I think I have yellow injectors? They have yellow tape on the wires going in but they have blue rings up by the tip. Being the choices are yellow or blue i think they are trying to confuse people. I will post a pic tomarrow
So if they are the new yellow I can just get new, But if they are the blue I need to buy a 2012 ecm and have it programmed?
How do I test these electronic parts? I can't figure what caused my motor failure?

The PTO piston went lean and etched the top. Then the debris took the edge out.
I have a short list of theroys:
My stator isn't providing enough power, but it looks fine?
Or a regulator problem?
Really have no idea?
I tested my DC volts at around 13.5 volts before it went down but that was at idle.
It has always surged bad at idle many too many things drawing down the volts and not enough left for the injectors at idle?
Between an oil pump and a CPC redline are the only accessories. I went with a smaller led tail light I think I will get rid of half the headlight to recoupe some there

I just went through this, I have the same blue tip yellow wire tag injectors. I ordered yellow injectors and they are the exact same. The tech at my dealership said they go by the wire tag color not the inj tip color. So You already have the updated injectors.

Thanks, with that out of the way I wonder if I have the right flash? I bought it with 400 miles on it two years ago and i its never seen a dealership? Is it written on the box somewhere?
Just trying to trace down any possible problems piece by piece

On the ECM there should be a sticker which has the color written on it.

Mine says blue but i know this sled was at carls cycle for work so i assume they reflashed it.

Unless the tech was wrong and told me inaccurate info, although i ordered the yellow inj. part number and they are the same as what i had so it looks legit.

In 2011 the RMK/PRO-RMK 800's were delivered with either Red, Blue or Yellow from the factory when the sled was originally made.

The fact that you have red, blue or yellow injectors in your sled is NOT an indication that that your sled has been/not-been serviced NOR the injectors changed.

If it was done under warranty or as an update, it would show this information in your "unit inquiry" that any dealer can print out for you with your VIN number.

If you are replacing the injectors... you will receive updated injectors that bear the yellow color designation.

Yellow injectors are the only ones that are now available and all yellow injectors sold now are the updated models. Red and Blue replacements are NOT available any longer. The yellow injectors that were installed as original equipment by the factory when the sled was made are NOT the updated injectors.

If your 2011 came with yellow injectors already, you will simply replace your injectors with the updated yellow units... No reflash is necessary.

If your 2011 came with Red or Blue injectors, you will replace them with the updated yellow injectors AND have the ECU reflashed to the yellow spec.

NOTE: Before anyone reading this gets into a panic as is common with this forum... NOT all injectors installed by the factory were defective and most do not need replacement. I know of many original 2011's, not running updated injectors, that are over 4000 miles without issues.... granted, SOME did have issues.

There is NO recall on the injectors for this reason.

All that snow and they couldn't put it out?

Maybe they wanted a new one ;)

Hey MH,

The "updated" injectors are made by Bosch, right? They also solved a lot of the stumbling issues the original OEM injectors (Fuji?) had right?

Thanks,

G

So, my sled (1600miles on it from PO) came with yellow injectors, blue ecm and the clearance recall letter (only shows the oil hose bulletin completed, no bulletins outstanding) not showing an injector upgrade or ecm flash leaves me where????

Will the motor run with an injector/ecm flash mis-match?

I assume it would be wise to have it checked for what software is in the ecm to be sure it is matched to the injectors.

Well i have my sled torn apart and motor of to indy dan. Found out i have the blue injectors still. Sled is an 11 and had 2500 miles on it. Sled ran pretty much rock solid. So is there a need to update injectors to the yellow ones? Also anyone know if i can just take my ecm in and not the whole sled.

I assume they need the whole thing so they can plug into the data port. Kinda sucks but I guess you could take the whole harness in haha
