INFO CORRECTION ON SKI-SHOCK LENGTHS

I had earlier stated that the Ski shock lengths were the same on the PRO RMK as the IQ-RMK...

NOT THE CASE

From a VERY good source, I found out the following.

The PRO-RMK has a shock length of 17.50" and the IQ-RMK has a shock length of 17.20".

Although the A-Arm geometry is the same on the two sleds, the shock mount on the bulkhead of the PRO is mounted a touch higher and outboard more which necessitated the longer slightly length shock.

Also, with the PRO RMK, being a mostly metric snowmobile, the shock mounting bolts are slightly larger at 10mm.

So.... all that being said, if you want to move your "fancy shocks" from your IQ-RMK over to your pro.. the front end will sit slightly lower AND you will need to bore out the shock mounting bushings (in the shock eye) for the slightly larger 10mm bolts.... For optimal performance, they should probably be re-valved too as the IQ-RMK shocks are made for a 40 lb heavier sled.

The A-arms have different part numbers too. Several speculated (guessed) that they were the same A-arms. I'm not sure, but maybe the only difference is the hole size for the shocks. It would be nice to know because I have some left over A-arms from my D8 that I planned on using as backups to the Pro Ride.

I would have to modify the D8 arms to have larger diamater holes or have some smaller bolts on hand.

WHAT ABOUT THE SHOCK LENGTHS ON AN ASSAULT?

What about them? Assaults have longer A-arms. I would speculate (another nice word for assume) that the same is true from the 2009/2010 Assault to the 2011 Assault as what MH said above. That being that the 2009/2010 Assault has smaller mounts.

Just another quick note. The bolt that goes thru the skis/spindle has also changed from 3/8" to 10MM. Please ensure you order the correct mounting kit if you purchase any after market skis. If you have an existing mount kit I'm sure you could use a drill and buy new bolts to make necessary corrections.

Is a re-Drill really needed? We are talking less than 0.02" (0.0187" actually) difference between 3/8" and 10mm.

I am curious what the shock length is on the PRO-RMK/Assault?

I know the a arms are longer... I was wondering what the shock length diff. is between the 10's and the 11's.. If anyone knows i would like to know cuz i have exit x1 on my 10 and would like to put them on my 11....

I also know the mounting holes are 10mm on the 11's that is not a big deal just would like to know true lengths between the two.

just wondering how much .30" is gonna make on the attack angle and handling, if any at all. I have used the eyelet mounts off of the '11 stock shock on my Evo'rs but at the top it seems sloppy, bolts tight yet you can move the shock a little bit.
