Indecision Help Which to buy? XM,RMK, or ???

XM dominates. There was a group of us riders that took all the new sleds out. had some dealer demos and some of our own. 6 riders took turns on each sled and it was obvious that the xm dominated. We had each brand in a 163 and as well as a doo 154. The 154 doo will outclimb the 163 polaris. The cat was close to the doo for climbing and track speed but not quite as good, but the cat handles like crap. I would definately go with the xm.

everyone feels more comfortable on different sleds than others right off the bat. But when it all boils down, you can get used to riding any of the new sleds within a couple hundred miles. The doo will out perform the others stock for stock. I'm not brand loyal. That's just the truth. Last season I was on a polaris. the two seasons before that a cat. A good dealer is a big part in picking which sled to buy as well.

I just dont see what destroyer does... Maybe its the type of riding? Maybe the XMs I've been around were running like crap? Maybe the Pros he's been around were running like crap?...

I'll take the Pro anyday, and I'm sure as hell not brand loyal, sponsored or will be spotted in any upcoming videos pushing any brand.

If I were you, I wouldn't listen to ANYONE'S opinion of which sled is better, including my own.

The only way you will decide is if you went out with all 3 on the same days and put a couple hours on each one.

The only way you will decide is with saddle time.
Ya Im with Scott on this one seat time will determine YOUR choice ,the one that fits you ..:face-icon-small-coo

Ride them all and decide for yourself. I tried all 3 this year and decided to go with the XM for next year.

What works for one guy might not work for the next!

I don't think that you can go wrong with any of the three that you mentioned. I agree, the dealer is a huge part of the decision you are faced with. I know lots of people who are happy with both Ski Doo and Poalris. Have not been around any of the new Cats. Whichever choice you make, you will be a happy camper next winter. Happy, Happy, Happy!!!:face-icon-small-hap

Depends on a lot of things.

The big ones
1 Rider style
2 What you know and if not much, Dealer support.

This year they where all a lot closer than in years past, I can honestly say they all have strong points to the point one will do something the other wont do.

IMO, I'm a backcountry rider not so much a climber anymore so here is my opinion.

The pro is the best chassis for extreme backcountry riding, its designed specifically for it. When it gets to the really steep it will hold a steep line and maintain more speed than the others the steeper it gets. The Cat comes in next but nearly equal to the doo, the doo can do it but its slow until you get the running boards out of the snow, the doo is smoother though.

The cat is a great all around and takes mods the best, very capable and 95% of the time or more will do what needs done.

The XM definitely pulls the best wheelies, is a blast to ride does it all well. Fun factor is big because its so easy to have fun. But it wont hang on a real steep sidehill like a pro. Although it holds some steep lines unlike the XP and is very smooth, it slows way down when its that steep and a pro on the same hill will gain speed and be able to maneuver a little more, to most its not even a factor, for me its a huge factor.

Like everyone else, Today its about you not me, all the sleds these days have more of a fun factor than ever, and in climbing I've seen all of them win in a straight up climb depending on conditions (all setup well) so thats not really a factor IMO.

I would go ride them all, I had fun on all three. But all three in stock form also had an advantage in one place or another, so many variables its not even funny.

I'm leaning toward the pro or cat, only because its a lot harder to modify the doo for what I like

Polaris 800 engines before 2010 are not good - you will need a fix kit worth of 1.5K. that`s my 5 cents

I agree with riding them yourselves.

I have a lot of seat time on the Pro and have spent some time on a buddies XM. The XM is really a great improvement over the XP. I'd take one myself! I still think the Pro is easier to throw around. The XM is a little heavier (with more power). The XM has a more "over the steering" feeling than the Pro. It doesn't balance as well on it's side for me but I think that is 90% just getting used to the sled. Don't get caught up in the 'better fuel mileage' debate. Who cares? We ride them hard and most of the time we are too tired long before the tank is empty. Unless you are a trail rider, the difference between the Pro and XM won't matter. As of now, the XM seems to have better reliability now that the fire fix is done.

Dealer's are important but I refuse to buy one brand of sled because of a better dealer. In Colorado there are all dealers within 60 miles of me so I'll choose the best sled possible. I can always swap dealers but I do understand the point of a guy who battles for you in warranty cases and makes sure you get back out on the snow. But if the Yamaha guys is the best dealer known to man, it won't push me to buy a Yamaha. :)
