In Need Of HELP!

Okay guys heres my dilemma. I have posted this on some diesel sites, but i keep getting the same (older trucks need repairs) which is understandable.

Well i bought a diesel because EVERYONE says that diesels are better and they last forever and you dont have to work on them all the time like a gasser, etc, you know the story.

I bought a 99 F250 7.3 about a year ago because of what great condition it was in. It had 110,000 miles on it when i got it. Since then i put on about 20,000.

This summer, i had to put on a starter.

Once winter hit, BOOM, it leaks fuel everywhere even after i replaced the o-rings in the fuel lines. Water Pump went, Had to replace ALL rotors, brake pads, calipers. While i was replacing the water pump, i noticed my front axle is leaking like crazy from the pig.

How reliable is the 7.3 if the water pump, starter, glow plug relay, brakes, font axle seal go out at 125,000 miles.

Is this normal or do i have a lemon?

It's a double edge sword. You found a great truck with low miles, but 110k miles in 12 years is nothing. Sounds like it spent most of it's life parked and when it did get used it probably wasn't pushed hard (speculation).

Diesels like to run not sit. It's in shock, I would be too if I sat around all summer and fall then started snowmobiling hard. Sounds like you got most of the problems fixed, go through everything and service it regularly, oil, tranny, diffs.

I have an 01 F350 7.3 original owner with 290k stick with it and you'll love the truck.

P.S. Where's the fuel leaking from?

The fuels leaking from the fuel bowl drain valve. I replaced the o-rings already but i think i need a new valve.

our 99 7.3L "work" truck has been awesome
of course regular maintinence is needed, it has been a great truck

we just did the alternator and odds n ends up front as far as suspension and steering goes

we plow snow, snowmobile, tow trailers, and hunt with it so i feel like it gets alot of hard use and keeps running great

they are really good trucks, sounds to me like you have a few concerns to deal with, but once you get them fixed up you should have alot of care free miles

good luck

i have 190000 towing miles on my 02 7.3 with little problems. dont let it set for long periods and run it hard it likes to work. i add 2 quarts of non synthetic atf every couple of tanks of fuel to lube and clean injectors.
