In Need of a favor...Anyone have 6 of the BRP skidplate rivets laying around?

In Need of a favor..Anyone have 6 of the BRP skidplate mounting rivets laying around?

Hello,
I'm in need of 6 of the skidplate rivets used for mounting the BRP skidplate. I have the part#(293150166) from the installation instructions but the parts system nor the dealers parts system recognizes the part# for ordering.

I'm wondering if anyone happens to have 6 of them lying around that possibly choose to mount the skidplate with bolts instead of using the supplied rivets and would be willing to part with them...??

Thanks,
-John

Aren't they just "snowmobile rivets", you might be able to pick some up at the local ace hardware. That's what I use. There basically a heavy shank rivet with a very wide flange (head).

I have never seen this style rivet @ the hardware store. These seem to flare out with 4 arms when pulled and do not seem to "pull" real tight. Believe it or not, I do not want one that pulls very hard because I like the way the let the skidplate somewhat "float" in the rear 6 mounting points thru the bulkhead..... On the front 4 mounting points, well thats another story. I used bolts/nuts to mount in this position as I wanted to be as rigid as possible to the front lower plastic.

Thanks,

DO NOT USE THEM, they break, just use steel 3/4" by 3/16ths, put back up washers on the 4 front ones, you will be much happier 300 miles from now, instead of running over it using BRP's.---Ken

Then just use regular rivets, pull them to the desired "tightness" leaving a little bit of float, and cut off the center pin with a set of side cutters or a Dremel and a cut off wheel. Use a good alum washer on the back side so they don't pull through. If you are worried about the skid plate floating so that it can move and shrink and expand, drill the holes a couple drill sizes bigger and use a little bigger rivet with a bigger washer.

BRP's are junk, cheap crap, the only reason they use the ones that splay out like that is so they don't have to install washers on the back side (cheapskates).
