Have a 2009 impulse nytro with terra alps tunnel. Last week end i had temp light come on once during the day on friday while in 2 feet of snow and it burped a bit of coolant out. next day light came on a few more times in riding area and 5-6 times on trail down dive in snow and went away then back on. I was not on long it almost like has a air bubble but nopt consistant enough. I purged system now. I am hoping it was just air and i got it out but any other possible ideas would be great. I did have cooling system apart this year and maybe didnt get air all out. It alos acted up after my test ride at home in praires after about 2 hours of ridin which i thought i got all the air out then but maybe didnt have front end high enough.

Would also sitting and snow freezin to ice covering coolers be an issue? as in not lettin fresh snow hit coolers to transfer heat out? just an idea i had as i had no troubles last year.

Thanks Jamie.

It sounds exactly air bubble in coolant, I had lots of troubles with that on a mcx tnytro last year

more than likely a air bubble, but if you are losing coolant its a head gasket will act similar, leak down test would confirm.

I didnt do a cylinder leak down test but i did pressurize cooling system tester @ 17 lbs and it held it for 1.5 hours at the least. was a little over kill but figured i would test @ boost run from other side and thinkin if it were a head gasket it would have showin up then as well? but i may be wrong. its how we test large diesel motors so i figured it would be a good test for this motor?
Thanks Jamie

I would say definitely an air bubble in one of the lines espcially since you have had the coolant drained to get the new tunnel on. Best of luck, I had this happen a couple times in my impulse nytro with vanamburg.

My friend had problems with the coolant heating. he removed the coolant from the turbo, and the problem was solved. the coolant resarvoar is to smal and heats up by the turbo. only run oil cooling :)
