Impulse Nytro Clutching

I wanted to see what everyone is running for clutching.
Im currently running 15-16 lbs of boost on the closed loop, 2860 turbo system. Using the springs that paul sent me (sorry dont remember colors right now), supertip weights set at 72 grams and shockwave helix set at 1 turn out from the bottom. My secondary spring is set at holes 0 and 1.

Im hitting rev limiter on acceleration, but once it hits rpms will go back down and then it will be fine for the remainder of the acceleration. Should I add more weight or adjust helix. Looks like my next weight would be 74 grams per arm. If I go with weights, spread them evenly across the arm?

Thanks

Prabably leave the primary. Stiffin the secondary to something like 2-2 or 3-3 and shock wave 1.5-2 turns out.
With the shockwave @ 0-1 there will be no backshift hense bouching off rev limiter and then settling down.

I run: Primary: 8bu's fully loaded with blue brown blue
Secondary: Green Cat spring set @ 3-3 and 1.5 turns out.
Not the greatest clutching but I don't blow belts

clutching

I would add a few more grams to the weights, run 0 and 3 in the secondary and 1.5 turns out on shock wave.

Thanks for the replies. Im guessing when adding weights, spread them out evenly across the arm?

Thanks again

More weight in tip = pulls hard but poor back shift.

The 8bu's that I run are only 58 grams or so!!!
I have the dalton weights also and have tryed various setups (72-80 some odd), but if your on and off the throttle (tree riding) the belt will not hold up!

Put one tungsten in the heel and one tungsten in the middle, on opposite sides of the arm so you get correct balance. Then you can fine tune with 2 or 4 washers on the tip.

Set the secondary as Ezmoney says. Perfect!

Zipperno, do you think 72 grams is correct or go a few more?

I will dial the secondary in as well. Thanks

hey guys running 0-3, don't you guys have problems backshifting especially in the deep? I also found it will pull the belt so far into the secondary the inside of the belt will get smoothed out.

Im on the same boost as you and running 2 tungstens and 4 washers, this is with 14.5 mm rollers. So I would say put in a few more.

Remember this settings only work with the AC type springs. A stock yamaha secondary spring is different.

I was wondering what difference you feel from a 0-1 setting to a 0-3? I have an impulse apex with the 0-1 setting and it seems good with weight. With a 0-3 does it backshift better for coming off hills? Just curious because my sled won't hold back near like my old ski doo rev.

Just trying to learn a bit more on the clutch.

When you guys are talking 0 and 3 on secondary. I am assuming 0 is on the clutch side and 3 is on the shockwave side. I cannot seem to find the numbers on the clutch side. Also when installing spring you are putting it in the the 0 slot on clutch and 3 slot on shockwave and twisting it clockwise a 1/4 turn, 1/2 turn or 3/4 turn to get shockwave on studs for clutch when on the machine? Trying to learn this concept. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

So your saying on the sheave of the clutch their are markings 0,2,3. Not understanding concept talking about 2-2,0-2,0-1 etc. Shockwave has marking 0,3,6,9. No one seems to talk the 6 or 9 hole in shock wave. Just trying to get clutch set up right. Running 15lbs of boost with ac red/white spring. Iam a slow learner on this clutching terminology.
