imac vs pc

made the switch this spring to a MacBook and couldn't be happier. took a little getting used to but after you learn where to look for stuff it's much nicer.

Switched about a year ago. Never going back!

Have the large Imac and the mac book for college!

Have any questions let me know.

for programs like office with outlook and stuff like roxio/limewire/virus software...do you have to get all new programs as well or are they compatible?

The wife has a Macbook... it's different for sure. I hated it at first, but now it's growing on me. The thing just plain works, all the time. Battery life is 10x that of my old laptop PC and it has some neat little programs like iPhoto and iMovie that I've come to appreciate. When you go somewhere and want to connect to their wireless signal, you don't have to jump through hoops and go through a 30 page wizard. It just connects and away you go. Same idea for printers, digital cameras....

Without a doubt, there's a learning curve (I just figured out last week that there IS a right click thingy!!) but I don't think I'd buy another PC.

My old lady bought a MacBook Pro before she started her masters program at college. Maybe she got a lemon, or one built at the end of the day on Friday or first thing Monday, but it's been the BIGGEST POS ever. It's currently in for repair for the 3rd time in a year. I'm on my 2nd Compaq notebook which is pushing 4 years old and my father has my original one which has had at least 7 birthdays and still rocking right along. For what she paid for the Macbook, she could have bought 2 of these.

Buyer beware for sure. Don't buy into the advertising hype without doing your homework.

Get the Mac. I have a Mac Book Pro and installed Parallels, I can run windows programs right next to my mac software and switch between the two with the clic of a mouse and back again. click and drag from one to the other transfer files whatever. Just stay of the net with windows. This is my second Mac, my first one is a first gen I-Mac bubble screen thing that is at least 9yrs old still out performs some newer pcs.

Get the imac and never look back!!!! I just did the switch this summer for my office (2 24" macs), and could not be happier. Programs load each and every time, run faster, Not 1 single freeze up, and I don't need to install an update or patch every freakin hr.;) Took couple weeks to learn everything, but it's a breeze now.

As someone else stated you can get Parallels and run Windows if you have to. One mouse click switches me back and forth between OS's.

Oh... and you can't beat the 24" screen!!!!!!!! ;);)

Go Mac! You can get Office for Mac but with Google Docs, why bother? No need for antivirus/spyware. Dont do Parallels unless you have something really specific you need. Then if you do, get VMWare instead of Parallels.

Have both. All I do is surf snowest and send the odd email from hotmail probably just do all that from a blackberry and sell the computers. But for now both do equally as good.

i bought one for the wife to use, but I admit I like using it also... for home use I don't think there is a finer machine out there... but for work I need a PC...
