I'm realy torn. Sell the KING?

I just got an offer to sell it. I can't get a sled like it anymore. I've had a couple M-sleds and they thrill me not. I like the way they handle but they're anemic.
I've got a ported, piped, 975. Challenger Extreme track. It's an "04 and the price offered is about half of what a M-8 costs now. That's good for a sled thats approaching eight years old. I planned on getting a new one sometime. I thought if no one would pay the price , I'd just keep it. Now what?

$5,000 grand more for less power? There's no way short of a turbo to get it out of any new sled. Add a turbo add another $5,000. Life is changing. I hope the new Cat is so good I won't mis the King.

I agree with you

I have 04 kingcat (turbotater 990 kit )on it for the money and how reliable it is, still runs awesome for a none turbo sled!!!!! Alot of times it will run with pump gas turbos!

same problem

I am actually going through the same thing I've got a 05 king with lots of mods it runs great never any problems, there is a guy comming to look at it on Saturday and I'm really sweating it I've never been so attached to a sled. I too have drove a few m's and the handling is great but power wise in stock form just didnt feel right. The new cat better be sweet!

king

i bought a m1000 this year and find myself riding my 1010 king cat more than the m. i like the ride and handling of the m but when i get on the king it feels like your one with the sled, and the power is hard to say good bye to. All i have done is fight the m trying to get it to run, it has y pipe, pipe, can, clutching, boondocker box and so on. and its been a pain in the a$$. my 1010 was pull the rope and ride and was very competive. hopefully i will learn to like 1000 sometime. everyone told me i wouldnt miss the king cat but i havent found my like for the m

I'm sorry if I'm knocking a m-1000, but I've ridden them and.........

they're not the King. Low RPM and just as heavy. No thanks. I've been eating those alive for years. My stock M-8 was close to one with and he had a Power Claw. He's lucky he had the new track. With the King, no contest.
Granted those of us with good running Kings did a lot of work on them to get them to work. Maybe that's the issue. You get to know a sled that well that you're part of it. The new sleds work well out of the box. 160 hp feels a little wimpy though., and the 1000 is done anyway. I've just been assured that the 2012 will satisfy, I guess I'll sell and move on.

M1000 with a pipe and a few simple mods and you will be saying "what King!"

a good running king cat with twin pipes(jaws) will still smoke most m1000's out there. The 900 king cat engine makes awesome power and just feels so much snappier. m1000 motor is sluggish and anemic

I've heard that before, but never seen it, I knew a guy that had one with slp pipe and it ran pretty sweet (nice machine not matter what people say) but it wouldn't pull with my 07 slp piped m1000, with a 35hp added to the piped king it was pretty even. But my stock 09 would beat my 07 piped, I still say bring your king and see if you can keep up. My 09 is piped and weighs about 450lbs with out gas.

Then you must have a idea of what's coming out? Must be a dandy to dump the KK Just sell it to someone that will take good care of it and maybe you will have it back someday? Mike

Just got home from West Yellowstone, got my 05 king purring like a kitten finally, some clutching and efi tuning and best of all new power claw track, WOW what a difference that makes, also toying with the thought of updating but got it working so nice hate to sell it with the prices of new sleds.

for 5K this late in the season, YES
I sold mine for 3200 early in the season and felt pretty luck to get that. Of course mine didnt have all the goodies yours does. but it was a strong running 900.

Came back from a boondocking ride last night........

I had a lot of nfun with the King. What I like the most, besides the power, is that I can bury it deep into the snow and it keeps going. The snorkel and the wrapped pipes are the reason for that. But good tuning too. I don't look forward to setting up a new sled.

DON'T DO IT, OWEN!!! lol:face-icon-small-sho

I agree with you....just can't get past the arm-ripping torque!!! And I'm so used to it, that the M's feel really "tippy" to me!
For that price, I would probably do it though!
If you miss it that bad...you can come out here, and I'll let you get your "fix" on mine!:face-icon-small-win !!:cheer2:

I'm sure you will eventually get it to run just like you did with this one!
Good luck!

P.S. I finally found a couple of heads for my 9 from an 05 KK...like new, and only $35 for the set!!!:cheer2:
