Haven't shot the .444 but have shot the 45/70, And all I can say is wow, Shot 400 grain S/W cast leads with gas checks and it was awesome, Has big recoil but its dif. from say a 45 colt handload or a 44 mag, they are a sharp quick kick and the 45/70 had more of a push feel to it. Like the dif between a shotgun and rifle kick they are both hard but dif. This would be the ticket for woods hunting deer IMO open sights, points quicker than a rifle.

They are a very good piece of iron.. marlin does a decent job and fit and finish.. Havent shot that exact model.. but have shot a lot of .444.. they are fun

Once choice you may want to look at is the .460.. then you can shoot 460 rounds, 454 casuall, and 44 long colt all in the same package.. Its what has been selling really well around here because of the caliber selection.. and still havent had to work on one yet

Fixed it for ya

S&W 500 and or S&W 460. I have the 500 it's alot more fun to shoot than I ever thought it would be. Mine's the 4in model and recoil is obviously noticable but not anything like I thought it would be. Never thought I would say this but big bore hand guns are fun.
