I'm curious as to what might have caused this.

I have a 2008 XP Summit 800 and I squeaked a piston last week. Dealer called me today and told me that the MAG side cylinder was delaminating. What in the heck would make that happen other than a faulty cylinder?

Your sig says you have SLP pipe and head? Could have been a number of things...too lean, detonation, bad gas, faulty piston, many many things..any pics of the top of piston??

No pics, I am 200 miles from my dealer. From what he said it was just the MAG side, the PTO side was PERFECT!

Sorry to hear about that PJ. Did you take the 2nd year engine warranty when you snowchecked it?

Not a snowcheck, but I did purchase 4 years extra warranty.

Do you mean the plating was flaking off the cylinders? If so then probably just a bad plating job.

All I know is what the tech at my dealer said over the phone. I am a looooong ways away from the shop so I probably won't be able to see the damage as the parts got shipped back to BRP. New parts on order, I should have my sled back next week.
