Illegals in Northern Minnesota

I was just reading in my local paper that, we aren't even safe up here in the north woods.

6 illegal aliens were arrested in Virginia MN (about 15 miles south of my house). Apparently, there had been some break ins in an area of downtown. The cops were patrolling the area a few nights after when a suspicious looking man was looking into windows of cars. They asked him for ID, he didn't speak any English. The border patrol sent an interpreter down and discovered the man had no ID, nor was he a legal citizen. They traced him back to an apartment complex and found 5 other illegals living there. 3 were from Guatemala, the other 3 were from China. Conveniently, they all worked at the New China Buffet down the street. What bugs me is, in this article, it mentioned that no charges are being pressed against the business.

I work at a freaking grocery store. To get the job, I had to have my social security card, my driver's license (or passport, just another form of ID) and I had to speak...... English. Whats the deal with these establishments that don't background check employees, then get a slap on the wrist when said employees aren't citizens?

Going after the employEES does nothing, if they started fining the crap out of employERS that were hiring the illegals, crap would change in a hurry. IF you as an employer fill out an I-9 and have copies of their paperwork it's all good, I report our new hires to the state the minute they show up for their first day.

warroad is bad too. marvin windows has them working there. the fawkers are taking deer out of season and over limit on fish and the dnr won't do anything to them. they don't speak english and a trial would cost too much. they have more rights then we do. pretty sad

Ah, yes, but Guatemalans are a different, heartier breed of illegals...they can stand the cold as long as they are provided with hand-rolled cigars, and quick spirited trumpet music.

Yep, right on Chestnut St. I'm not sure where the apartment was, there's apartments all over the place above businesses and down by the lake.

I would immediately suspect the native population too, not because of any racism, but because most of the time.....that is the case.

Speaking of the natives, one of their own burnt down their tribal headquarters not long ago.


When I was in high school, we had an "indian ed" class. The natives in the school wore "Native Pride" shirts all the time. So a redneck friend of mine took a sharpie on a white tank top and wrote "White Pride". He got suspended. Talk about injustice...

Back to the original topic, I seriously think the border patrol should check out the Lowe's in Hibbing Mn, too. That place is worse than your average Home Depot as far as mexicans go.

yeah but northern MN really has nothing to offer in the way of work like SD has for migrants. Generally MN has kept our illegals south of the twin cities.

2 things would take care of this whole problem.

THe Save act and E-verify.
It would make it vertually impossible to hire an illigal anywhere in the country.
That is why the dems refuse to allow it to come up for a vote.

Illigals are moving all over the U.S. in an attempt to find work long enough for Bo to follow thru on his promise to give them amnesty.

My former town, Willmar, where I lived for 43 years before retiring to the north country,
is virtually over run with Mexicans and Somali's. Doubtful that they all work at Jenny-O turkey processing plants.

Those two groups hate each other's guts, and makes for some interesting problems that keeps the police plenty busy.

Strange, both groups have a lot of kitchen fires. Former neighbor is on the FD and says they had to put out a fire in a downtown upstairs apartment, and while checking other apt's, found a partially butchered goat in the bathtub of an another apt.

That's only one example.

Oh, then there's the mex gangs, and somali gangs, rampant thefts and breakin's, town of only 19,000, makes these issues very visible.

I'm trying to sell my house there, in a still decent older neighborhood, but it's been a slow process.
