Awesome story, gave me the shivers for i know a man just like Mr. Brooks and he's my dad. Not many of these guys left and will never be any like them again. i've been fortunate that i was able to attend an airshow in CO. back in the 90's when a B-17 came to my dad's hometown of which he was a top turret gunner. When he climbed into that ship you would have thought he was back in the war on a mission,he grabbed those twin fifties and was spinning around as if he was chasing down messerschmidts all over again. It was a great day for him as the local news media and crowd questioned him, I was proud for him that day.He flew 24 missions before being shot down over Berlin and captured in may of 44'.He was released at the end of the war in 45',came home and married my mom whom he had met before entering service. The good lord has taken well care of him and will celebrate his 93 yr. of life this Aug. Don't know about other peeps, but i can't salute our vets.enough in appreciation for all the sacrifices that they have made for the cause of freedom.
